You had been lost in a sweet slumber, your mind wandering through a vivid and fanciful dream that had taken you to far-off lands and exotic places. The world around you was soft and hazy, like an exquisite painting coming to life, and you felt yourself sinking deeper and deeper into the warm embrace of sleep.

But then, as if by some cruel twist of fate, the dream came crashing down around you, shattered by the sudden shock of freezing cold water hitting your face. You bolted upright in bed, gasping for breath and struggling to make sense of your surroundings.

And there he was—the very bane of your existence, standing at the foot of your bed with his arms crossed over his chest like a sleep paralysis demon, a look of smug satisfaction etched onto his face at the fact that he was able to jolt you. Somehow, Ranpo had managed to sneak into your room undetected. Thank God you were not a naked sleeper...at least not today. You still couldn't understand why he was here, in your bedroom of all places, at only God knew what time it was in the morning—whatever the answer, it was far too early for this. Your groggy mind struggled to make sense of the situation, and Ranpo just standing there silently whilst tapping his foot against the ground certainly wasn't helping.

You wiped the water from your eyes, hoping that this was all a dream and you were perhaps just seeing things, but unfortunately for you, he was still here like the unwanted parasite he was. His mere presence was enough to sour your mood completely and send your pulse racing with frustration. "What the hell do you want, pervert?"

"You really should start locking your door at night," Ranpo glanced around your bedroom, his nose scrunching distastefully. Your room wasn't exactly in the best state right now, but you didn't care because it was your room. He had no right to judge. "You never know who's around."

You rolled your eyes, "noted—now what do you want before I scream?"

"Relax," he said, "I wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole."

You glared daggers at him. "If you're seriously just here to insult me—"

"Get out of bed and get ready," he said, jumping at the first chance to interrupt you, his tone leaving no room for argument. "We have a train to catch to Tokyo in less than an hour, and we don't have any time to waste."

"Today is my day off." You furrowed your brows. "I don't need to go anywhere."

"Except now you do."

You groaned, but you ultimately decided that it wasn't worth the argument in the end. The last thing you wanted to do today was drain your energy on Ranpo of all people, who must have been sent from Hell as punishment to suck the life out of you; it was the only viable explanation for why his existence was necessary.
