[prologue - 1 month ago]

"Ana please, you can't go on living like this, your sister is crazy. And her husband is even worse" Sarah said desperately.

"I know, I wanna come back to Austin. I can't stand it here anymore, Sarah. But I can't go. I study here. And I can't afford my own apartment in Austin yet"

"But there are also good universities here," Sarah added grinning.

"Yes, I know, maybe I could even go to the same university as you do. But until I can register and maybe be accepted, it could take forever. And then I have to find a part-time job somehow. How am I supposed to do all this when I'm in Florida right now"

"Maybe we could rent a cheap place together?" Sarah suggested. 

"You think we could afford that?" Anabella asked with a chuckle.  "You're right, we can't" she replied laughing. 

"Wait, I have an idea," Sarah said suddenly. 
Anabella looked at her phone in confusion until Sarah called out "Dad!" loudly. 

"What? No, what are you doing?" Anabella asked confused but Sarah ignored her.

„Wait a second" Then there was a knock on Sarah's door and a few seconds later her father standing next to her in her room.

"What's going on?" he asked.  

"You still know Anabella, don't you?" she asked her father with batting eyelashes. 

"Anabella Molina? Yeah, why?" her father replied confused.

"Could she maybe stay with us for a while?"
"What?" Anabella and Sarah's father asked at the same time.

"Did something happen?" he then asked. 

"Well, you know she's staying with her sister in Miami now.  But she can't stay there, her sister and her brother-in-law don't  treat her that well"

"What do you mean by that?" he asked back immediately.

"Sarah wait, take out your headphones or turn on the speakers. You can't just say something like that, that's embarrassing for me"

"Wait a second Dad" said Sarah and took the headphones off.  "I'm on the phone with her right now," she added.

"Hi Mr. Miller, sorry Sarah asked that," she explained.
She just didn't want to annoy Sarah's father. 
"Yes Anabella hello, you need a place to stay for a while?" 

„Well yes, but I can't ask that of you. Sarah just asked without asking me first. I'll find a cheap apartment somewhere in Austin somehow."

"Dad please she can't stay there and I want her to come back to Austin. It's my birthday next week, this can be my birthday present"

There was a brief silence and then she heard him talking again, "Well, we have a spare guest room, you can stay here for a while and we can help you get back on your feet here in Austin"

"Really?" she asked in surprise. 
"Sure, you heard him," Sara said immediately. 

"Thank you so much Mr. Miller, I'll pay you rent and help around the house. And I'm trying to move out as soon as possible and find something of my own," Anabella said gratefully.

"It's okay, just discuss the details with Sarah," he answered before Sarah threw him out of her room. 

"You see? Problem solved" Sarah said happily. 

"Yeah, thank you so much"

"No problem, that will be great. It's gonna be like our sleepovers in middle school again"
