Regina's POV
It finally came time to go back to Emma. The Witch had escaped, but I went anyway to stay true to my word. When I got there, Emma was on the last page on Henry's storybook, reading it to the unconscious Kilian. I stayed at the door and listened for a little while until I heard her close the book and start to cry. The food Henry brought her lay uneaten on the nightstand, but I didn't blame her. I didn't know how she could possibly eat at a time like this. Snow and Charming came in and saw me waiting at the door. I walked in, and she had her face buried in his chest.
"Are you ready to do this?" She looked up.
"Yeah I think so." She got up and hugged each of her parents and Henry, and then hugged me too. "Thank you." I couldn't believe that I finally had a real, happy life here. "Okay, I'm ready." Emma said.
"I'll need you to lay down." She laid down in the bed next to Hook and took his hand.
"Go ahead." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and I reached in and took her heart. I looked at it, beating in my hand, and something took over. I could feel that something was inside me. I held this precious thing, and I squeezed. I started to crush it, and tried with all of my strength to stop, but I couldn't. I didn't mean it. Emma tossed and gasped on the bed, clutching at her throat. Snow and Charming grabbed me and held my arm, and took the heart. Before I had time to think, I had collapsed on the ground in tears.
"It wasn't me! I didn't mean it! There's something else!" Henry seemed to believe me, and got down on the floor beside me.
"It's okay mom, I believe you."
"Well I don't. What else could've made you do that besides your own will?" Charming said.
"I don't know, but we do live in a world of magic." I could see his face change, as if maybe he could see the regret in mine. Snow was thinking too.
"I have an idea." She said. She shoved her hand right into my chest and pulled it out without anything. "No heart. Someone was controlling you." Charming put Emma's heart back inside her and she woke up.
"What was that?" Emma looked at me questioningly.
"It wasn't me. Someone has my heart and they're controlling me." She looked from me to Snow and Charming, and they nodded at her.
"Well that's convenient." She got up and felt her chest for her heartbeat just to reassure herself. "My chest hurts." She said. Well, it would after that. "Now what?"
"We have to figure out who took my heart, and go get it from them."
"Maybe we can get Gold to look into my memory and see who it was, because obviously, they wiped my memory. Even though they did that, there's still a way to retrieve it."
"Let's go right now. I don't want to waste any time and lose him to the coma." Emma was already putting on her shoes. We left quickly after Emma grabbed her gun.

---

We gathered more people in the town and became quite the interesting group. It was Snow, Charming, me, Henry, Emma, Granny, the dwarves (minus Grumpy), Belle, and Will. They all had weapons, but only Emma and I had the best weapon: magic. There was no way we could defeat the witch without it, so it was a good thing we had it. Hopefully Emma will feel better though. She had an arm around Charming, who was holding her up. She was dizzy after the whole heart incident.
"Okay, let's split up." Charming started. Everyone gathered around in a sort of huddle. "I have this bottle of truth potion, given to me by Gold-"
"In exchange for what?" Snow interrupted.
"Nothing."
"No. All magic comes with a price."
"No matter right now. Anyway, I'll give each of you some for questioning people, and we'll take different parts of the town. Belle and Will, you take down by the pier and that part of town, dwarves, you take the far end by all the houses, Granny and Henry, you take the hospital and around that area, Emma and Regina, you check the woods, and then take this half of the main part of town," he said, gesturing to his left. "and Mary Margaret and I will take the other half." He started pouring truth potion into small bottles and handing them out to each group. Emma came over to me and I put my arm across her back to support her. She looked extremely pale; worse than I would've thought. All of the color had drained from her face, but she started walking toward her car, and I followed her.
"Emma, do you need me to drive?"
"No, I'm fine." She lowered herself into her car slowly, and fumbled around for the keys until she finally shakily inserted one into the ignition. The car started, and she began to take small, shaky breaths until she was breathing heavily.
"Emma-"
"I think..." Her eyes had blanked out, and she fell onto the steering wheel.
