2 weeks later, Goth's POV

Crunch, crunch, crunch...

*Whistle~*

Snow blankets the ground and hugs the bald trees, having lost their leaves days before. The wind whistles a icy tune as it blows through the branches, making them sway. I stomp out the snow from my boots and glance around, spotting Palette as he stands at his locker, unraveling his scarf from his neck.

There he is...He's alone....I could talk to him...Find out why he has been avoiding me!

I take a few steps over to him but a blur rushes past me.

"Oh Palette, deary! It's so cold outside! Can you believe it's winter already? But your eyes are so warm and bright! How do you stay a such bright beacon?"Aleena squeals, clinging to him

He closes his eyes with a sigh.

"So can I get a kiss yet or do I have to work more?"She asks

He slides her hands off of him, picking her hand up from his shoulder as if it was something icky to be kept away from him.

"I know you tried to buy me as if I'm an item. I'm not into you or your antics. And I'm really not in the mood. So please, just leave me alone."He says

His voice is very cold and stern, lacking his enthusiasm. Dark black shades have formed under his eyes and he honestly looks exhausted.

What has happened to my friend? Palette..? Why do you look ready to fall apart?

Calludo, one of my classmates, slides in front of me with a bright smile.

"Hey, Goth! You seem pretty free! How are your wings? I could pick the snow out of your pretty feathers for you. Have you considered going to the di-?"He begins

"I told you no, Calludo. Leave me be. Palette! Can we talk?"I say, pushing past him and waving to Palette

Palette glances over and his eyes widen. His face and eyes go pale. He throws his jacket in his locker and slams the door shut. Then he quickly walks away, waving goodbye.

"Sorry, Goth! Can't talk right now! I got classes to get to! Maybe later!"He says

My hand falls to my side and I frown. I've heard that a dozen times from him now. But that look on his face. He's scared....Upset.....By what? Did I do something wrong...?

I frown, shaking my head. He has been so distant.....Even looking to hang out with my brother Raven instead of me. Avoids me...Does everything he can to be too busy to hang out anymore...Only quick words or texts...I don't even understand...It hurts to be without answers and worries me that I might've done something that hurt him. Classes went by and I see both Aleena and Madeline hugging his arms at lunch as they fight for his attention.

"Let's go for a winter carriage ride!"Aleena says

"No, we'll go ice skating!"Madeline snaps

"We'll go to have hot chocolate!"Aleena says

"No, we will have coffee and cookies! Maybe even candy canes!"

"No! We-!"

"Both of you back off!"Palette snaps, tearing away from them

He pushes them away and goes to the bathroom. I go after him, concerned for him. I find only one stall shut and can see his shoes under the stall door.

"Palette? Are you okay?"I ask

"Goth...? I.....I'm okay...You go eat with our friends. I'll be right out."He says

"Palette, I can tell that you're anything but okay. Did I do something wrong? You have avoided me for weeks now...You're upset and you looked upset at me earlier before you ran to class...Did I do something and not realize? If so, I'm sorry. I wouldn't ever look to hurt you..."I tell him
