"Come on, Mac!" Wukong said, his voice full of enthusiasm as he held Macaques hand, leading him up the hill to watch the stars.
"Jeez... we're just watching stars! What's the big deal?" Macaque asked, panting lightly for air. Wukong was always so fascinated by the Mortal Realm, and everything it had to offer. Macaque never understood why.
"What's the big deal? Mac, they're really cool!" Wukong said, laying down on the grass, as Macaque laid down next to him. Wukong hummed with content, looking up at the stars with amazed eyes. "Isn't it pretty, Mac? Humans get to see this every night.. it's.. it's really wonderful.."
Wukong muttered, looking up at the stars with gleeful and mesmerized eyes.
'Not as wonderful as you..' Macaque thought, looking over at Wukong and up at the stars. "I guess.. yeah. The stars are pretty.. wonderful to see.." Macaque responded, his voice soft.
Wukong chuckled, as he saw a wishing star pass by. "Oh! Mac! Mac! Make a wish! Hurry!" Wukong said, closing his eyes and making a wish. Macaque nodded, and made a wish in his mind. "There. I made a wish." Macaque said.
"What was it?" Wukong asked. Macaque looked away, his face burning with embarrassment before saying, "I-I just wished that we could stay friends forever.. that our lives don't change.. you know..?" Macaque said, looking over at Wukong with eyes full of admiration and love towards the golden-furred monkey beside him.
"Woah.. that's an amazing wish, Mac! Makes me feel kinda dumb about mine.." Wukong admitted, feeling less superior about his own wish. "Hm? What did you wish for? Eternal peaches to eat?" Macaque joked, laughing at his statement. But, seeing as Wukong hadn't laughed, he'd guessed his statement was correct.
"Seriously? Eternal peaches? Wukong, that's so childish!" Macaque said, laughing loudly at Wukong's wish. "H-Hey! I love peaches! My wish was totally reasonable!"
Wukong argued, pouting in annoyance, while his ears lowered with embarrassment. "Haha.., okay, okay.. your wish wasn't childish, Wukong. It was totally reasonable.."
Macaque said, his eyes moving up to the stars once more. Hopefully things stayed this way. The two of them, friends forever..

"Mac..? H-Hey.., bud! W-Wake up! It's over! Mac! Come on! This isn't funny..!" Wukong dropped his staff, tears flowing down his eyes as he glanced down at Macaques lifeless body.
"Nononononono! Macaque! Please! Wake up! I'm sorry! Get up! Please!! Mac!!" Wukong crouched down, lightly tapping on Macaques body, hoping to get some reaction, or anything to wake his best friend up.
But he couldn't.
Macaque was dead.
And it was all Wukong's fault.
If he had just listened to Macaque.
If he had just heard him out..!
None of this would have happened!
Wukong sobbed, holding Macaques body in his arms while crying.
"Please, please, please! Macaque! You can't leave me! Come on!! G-Get up..! Please..! Damn it! Please... don't.. Mac..! Mango! Please..! We were supposed to stay friends forever! Please! I'm so sorry... I'm sorry, Mac.."
