Teague braces his hand on my shoulder, using me to steady himself as we walk down the long hallway. I tuck my knife into my holster, keeping my eyes locked on the drawn-out hall in front of me. There is a man inside this building who can help me. Teague pauses in front of the door, facing me momentarily, "You've done so well, Alana. So much potential."
"Who were those people in the tower?"
"Why?"
"Because..." I know them. I clear my throat, "Because what if they get away?" I whisper.
He smirked, touching my cheek with shaky hands, "Wake up the doctor for me. I need him to fix my Alana and make her as she should be." I don't feel broken, I feel scared. He shoved the door open, and we see the doctor sitting upright, locked to a chair.
His eyes were glossy with a green hue. He's shaking as he stared at us, "Doctor Banner, you've met Rumlow I assume." Brock Rumlow smirked at the Doctor which causes green veins in his arms, "Now, a few years ago, we had a young lady named Alana living with us, she was taken from me."
The doctor twitched, narrowing his eyes, "You ruined all of my hard work. I want the serum to be functional once again—."
"It was botched." He says through his teeth, "You could've killed her."
"Had James Barnes done as he was told, we never would've had this problem with her," Teague takes the knife from my pocket, grazing it over my cheek, "You have forty-eight hours to fix Alana." I don't move, letting him press the knife to my neck, and then placing it into Rumlow's hand.
Teague staggers out of the room, nodding for Rumlow to follow him. The door is locked and the doctor is set free. He shakes as he stands, he comes closer to me, "I don't know what you remember, but I'm going to help you, Mila."
Plants vs zombies isn't gardening.
He used to wake me up early in the morning. He would try to cheer me up because... because my dad was away. I blink a few times, holding onto the side of my head, looking down, "Stop." I whispered, "Don't say that name anymore."
"Do you remember me?"
I taste metal melting in the back of my mouth as I look around the room. They took me off the side of the road, they dragged me here and then there was a chair. It was so cold inside the room, and then a horrible pain ripped my head apart and made me feel so unwell.
All I have is pieces of memories, I barely remember my dad's face, "They won't be able to save you anyway," I mumble in defeat, "You might as well just do what he says."
He shook his head as he stood closer to me, "Mila—."
"Stop it!" I snap, "They'll kill me if you say that name again."
"Do you remember us? Mila, we're your family—."
What does it matter, the Professor going to kill me anyway, "He's going to kill me if you keep talking about that."
When he reaches for my shoulders, I push his hand back, "I don't want to hurt you," I whisper.
"What did they do to you?"
They're hurting me. They're trying to make me into a killer. I blink, feeling tears prick in my eyes, "I want to go home." I whisper to him, "I don't want to be Alana."
He looks around the room, standing before me, "Mila, I promise they're coming for us. You need to act as if you don't know who you are, or who I am. I'll do what I can."
I can do it, I've been lying for a while now. I nod, wiping my eyes. I pull on the door handle, "I want to get out of here," I yell at Rumlow. He listens, letting me out of the room. I roll my eyes when I looked at him, "What are you so smug about?" I glare at him, "Where's Teague?"
"Don't you have to brood over something?" Brock mumbles. God I wish I had a book to throw at him. I cringe at the sudden ache in my head, "He's busy. Perhaps you should make yourself look important."
Bextley will know what to do. I don't respond to him, turning on my heel and walking away from him. The doctor has promised that they're going to help us. Bextley can finally leave, she'll be safe with us. Maybe these people can get us all out..they'll be able to get us to a safe place.
Bextley is seated in the 'family room.' Her head bowed and Noah was in front of her, they both look up at me when I came into the room, he looks around at the other children and moves aside so I could sit next to him.
"So, you know what happened?" Noah mumbles.
"I know that Teague stole me, my name is Mila, the rest is in pieces."
"Does it feel like your brain is swimming in oatmeal?" What? I cringe at his question, and he shrugged, "That's what Elisa said, she was forced to undergo the same thing you went through. When she woke up, she never really got better."
Bextley kicks him hard in the leg, "Would you shut up?"
"I'm just saying, what good is it knowing who you are if you can't go home?"
Doctor Banner promised he would get me home. There will be people here who will help us, "I'm not a murderer. I won't do it anymore."
"You keep saying it like you have a choice. He's given everything he has to make you into...that," He gestures his hands towards me, shrugging, "With Hydra failing, we're it. You have the ability to control someone's emotions and their organs—You could put everyone here asleep right now if you wanted to—."
"I don't want this!" I bark through my teeth. Bextley and Noah look at each other, I roll my eyes at them, "I'm going home. I don't care if you don't want to help me."
Suddenly, there was an alarm and everyone around us was on their feet. Bextley stands up as well, and takes out her gun, "What is that?" I ask.
"There's someone here," Noah mumbles.
Bextley quickly dives over to our sofa, shoving the sofa down as an explosion rings through my ears and the room lights up.
