Before the pandemic hit, my husband and I had to make a life changing decision for the best for ourselves. On October 24th, 2019 we moved to Del Rio to temporarily live with my mom and stepdad. I started work at the Casino located in Eagle Pass when rwo weeks go by.

I was patroling the outside perimeter whwn I heard meowing. I turned around aeeing that I was standing outside the entrance of the hotel, there was a woman on her phone. I assumed she had to be watching cat videos and continued with my walk. But then I heard more meowing but the woman had gone back inside.

I then decided to investigate and out from behind a wall walked out a litte black kitten meowing loudly. I was taken by her outwardly demand for attention tok those who only sought out to settle their gambling addiction.

After my shift, I immediately clocked out and drove back to the entrance of the hotel. At first glance, the kitten was nowhere to be found. I was anout to give up when she came out crying out from behind the same wall. She came out and knew I was there to help her. Putting her on the passenger seat, she was heading home with me.

Once she was home, there was alot of arguments between myself, my husband and my parents. We were staying in their in-law house and the rule was only two cats. I broke that rule by helping this stray black kitten in the hopes they would not notice her prescence in the house. I has got so fed up with them being angry about the third cat and took her to the vet just as the covid pandemic was beginning, before quarentine was mandatory.

We took her the shelter, the only shelter in the town of Del Rio only to learn it is a kill shelter. Our saving grace was because the spread of covid, they were mot accepting animals in to the shelter at the time. So, we took her back and she stayed with us. Syra took her in all the while Gracie grew non too fondly of their new addition. Since she was a kitten, her right front paw is twisted. Possibly due to an injury she had got when she was possibly a newborn. To this day, she walks, runs, and plays just fine. Even usesbhrr own crippled foot as a means of getting out punishments.

My husband didn't want to give her the usual black cat name but ended up naming her Salem anyway. But as a name it was tossed between naming her Salem or Wicca. When we decided kn calling her Salem, Wicca became her middle name.
Hence, Salem Wicca.
