Merlin isn't going to let giaus die. Over his dead body

This wasn't suposed to happen. Merlin had been accused of magic. He had planned to let it happen but then giaus being the fool he was had to blurt out it was him and that he had proof.
Merlin watches as uther sentences his old friend to death. Merlin was filling with rage "you lying, your a lier" he said about to run at the man before Arthur dragged him away.
They made it down to the dungeon and Arthur let go only for merlin to turn and try to attack. Arthur stopped him and held his arms so he couldn't try to hit him again
"Calm down I'm not throwing you in jail" he said and merlin didn't believe him
"Then what are you doing?" He asked annoyed and Arthur let go
"Breaking the law." He said and opened giaus' cell
"You have 5 minutes" he told him and he rushed to hug his father figure
"Why" he had asked and giaus had shushed him
"Your mother sent you to me and I promised I'd protect you" he said and merlin had told him he would come back and rescue him no matter what
The old man had just giving him a smile and ushered him out. Once they were back upstairs merlin was quiet.
It made Arthur uneasy "I'm sorry" he said but found merlin didn't face him
"So you won't save him?" The tone in merlins voice made Arthur's heart break
"I can't even if I wanted to. My father and uncle hold the power." He said and merlin let his shoulder fall
"Because he is your uncle you won't see his intention" merlin says and Arthur huffed.
"Merlin. That enough. I don't want to lose another friend" Arthur says and they drop it but merlin doesn't speak after that.
Later that night merlin sat at the workshop crying at how silent it was. How much he missed the old man telling him to sleep or eat or try some gross medicine he had made.
He made a plan and he was going to do it the next day before the execution.
He hasn't been able to go back down to the cells. The king had ordered nobody see him.
Merlin thought maybe uther did it to maybe give giaus time to get out. All merlin knew was he had to wait tell the day of the burning to save him
They lead him out of the cell only to be knocked out by merlins magic. He had lead giaus out and down a hall only to face more gaurds.
He took them out and heard the warning bell. "Damn it" he said and saw the last people he had wanted to see the knights of the round table his friends
They stood infront of them looking shocked "merlin" lancelot said and he frowned
"I won't let this happen" he said and they looked sympathetic
"None of us do but we can't stop this" gwaine said and Leon looked at him knowing
"I can and I will now stand down" he said shocking them all
They did stand back and let merlin and giaus pass. They wouldn't fight merlin he was their friend and they understood what he was doing
The next group of knights had Arthur's uncle in it. The man who had done all of this. He sent him flying and walked past him. He hid giaus as gaurds caught him.
They dragged him into the throne room where uther and Arthur both stood.
He had his head down not looking up as they drag him to the middle.
"Tell us where you hid the sorcerer" uther demanded and merlin only laughed
"How dare you laugh. You are a simple servent nothing more" he said and merlin stood making the gaurds let go.
"I'm much more then that." He said and the gaurds froze as he held one hand up using magic
He looked at uther his eyes blazing gold "I am a warlock not a sorcerer. The druids call me emerys" he said and the king gasped
"the most powerful sorcerer." Uther said and growled "you have invaded my castle to take my throne. Arthur strike him down" he said and merlins eyes widen
Arthur looked just as shocked but his father steped forward "this is what i tried to teach you. They are evil all they have is evil intent." He said handing him a sword
Arthur stared at merlin who was still looking at the king "your wrong. Your the only one who had evil intent. Don't forget you band magic because of your own selfishness and greed" he said and the king growled
"Lies all lies they always lie." He said and Arthur held the sword ready he didn't want to but he didn't know what to do.
"I am here becuase my destiny is to make Arthur the once and future king who will bring magic back to camilot" he said and uther yelled
"Lies kill him Arthur do it now" he said and Arthur stood frozen
"Is that true?" He said the first thing he had said this whole time
"Yes. The great dragon told me and I chose to stay and fulfill it" he said and Arthur felt his heart beating
"I use my magic for you Arthur only ever for you" he said making Arthur drop his sword.
He was still his friend and his secret love no matter if he had magic. His father however outraged at this took the sword
"Lies. He had inchanted you and i will kill him to free you" he said and rushed to try and stab merlin who stopped him with a hand up his eyes shimmering gold once more
Arthur felt himself unable to breath watching the others eyes flicker as he uses magic to throw uther back
"Your wrong. Im not evil because I'm not like you. You were so desprate to have a son, an heir that you didn't care what it cost so you didn't listen to her" he said walking closer now looking dangerous
"You killed your own wife. Arthur's mother so you could have a son little did you know he was destined to undo your work." He said the king tried to get up.
"Your reign ends here. I won't kill you because it's not my nature but your no longer king" he said using magic to remove the crown and held it in his hands
"Nobody will except you as king" uther tries but merlin just rolls his eyes.
He turned to Arthur who was looking at him wide eyed. "arthur" he said and the man finally breathed looking at those blue eyes
"It's your choice, your destiny" he said and Arthur didn't think twice before he bent on one knee.
"I swear to do by my people those with magic or without" he said and merlin seemed pleased placing the crown on his head.
Magic flowed out of merlin and around them the room lighting up as the promise was made.
Soon Arthur locked his father in his room needing to sort out this whole giaus deal
He found the other knights and let them all know giaus would not be burnt today or any other day. He then went about undoing the ban with merlin by his side
He had never felt so right before. He knew before his father's views weren't his own but he never thought this is how it would be
Arthur as king, merlin beside him as a sorcerer. He wanted merlin in the throne beside him so he pulled him into it. "It's as much your kingdom as it is mine" Arthur said holding his hand
The knights all chant long live the kings.
