"Faith! Get down here right now." We were all sitting around the dinner table, waiting to eat. Faith was the only one not there, and everybody was anxiously waiting for her so we could eat.
"I'm here. Gods." Faith rolled her eyes. "What's with the attitude?" My dad asked. "I don't have one, I'm just tired." Faith said. "She was on the phone literally all night." I said. "Faith." Dad said at the same time as she yelled at me, "What the heck?" I sighed. "Who were you talking to?" My mom asked. "I was talking to Alex, Espie, and P.J." She said. "Ooh." Julius said through a mouthful of ravioli.
"Don't talk with food in your mouth." Dad whispered and hit him. "Why not?" Julius whined. "Because I said so, that's why." Dad said.
"Anyway, let's play nice. You excited for camp?" My mom asked, changing the subject from trouble to happy. "I'm ecstatic." Julius said. "I'm excited." I said as I pored more cheese on my pasta. "Meh." Faith shrugged.
"You guys excited for the annual blow off?" Mom asked. "I guess. If it means we get another story." I said. "Well how about one right now?" My mom asked. "So, you know how I get cold really easily?" Dad groaned, and mom laughed. "We've heard this one." Julius said, rolling his eyes. "I know."
I slipped under my blanket. "Why are you scared for camp?" I asked Faith. "I don't know, stop asking me." Faith said. "Kay, jeez." I grumbled. "Good night." I said. "Night." I knew she didn't want to talk to me. I kept talking.
I woke up the next morning so excited. I was jumping out of my skin, waiting for tomorrow. My alarm went off and I started whacking my nightstand. "What's your problem?" Faith asked as soon as I woke up. "Drop the attitude." I said. "You're not my mom." She said. "Well I can get her if you want?" I said, knowing she had no way to get out of this. "Fuck off." I laughed. "Gladly."
I got up, grabbed some clothes and crossed over to the bathroom. I took a quick shower, got dressed, and threw my hair in a quick high ponytail.
I walked out of the bathroom and went downstairs for breakfast. "Good morning." Dad said, looking up from his book. "Whatcha reading?" I said. I pulled the chair out and sat down next to him. "My old journal. I'm looking for a good story." Dad said. "Oh my gods. We've all heard plenty of stories. You really don't need to tell one this year." Dad put his arm on my shoulder. "It's tradition." I laughed. "Dad, you've told three stories. Let someone else do it this year." I said. "Okay." He pouted, and I laughed more.
"Come on." Julius whined, dragging out the last word. "Their literally right there." Faith waved her arm in front of us, and we all looked to see Charlie and P.J. doing a bunch of weird dances. Everybody laughed, Julius ran over to go dance with them.
As soon as we got over, mom and dad left us, and us kids all went to go find our friends. I settled down next to Luke and Elaina.
