Draco and Yn were late enough that everyone had already left the common room to head to the Great Hall.

They had both been ushered inside by Professor McGonagall, when they had arrived at the door to Hogwarts, Yn's eye only briefly looking away from the imposing exterior to greet her. Professor McGonagall had looked disapprovingly at their attire seeing as nether of them had changed into the uniform on the train and tutted.

"Quickly now," she shepherded them into the stone foyer, lit only with the glow of the torches. "Both of you got to your dormitories and change into your uniforms immediately. If you hurry, you will be to make it to the Great Hall before we begin." She did, however, briefly smile at Yn, before turning to Draco who was slowly slipping away. "Mr Malfoy... please see that you escort Miss Avery to and from the Slytherin common room. We don't need her getting lost on her first day back."

Draco back tracked, sucking in a deep breath at being caught by the ever-sharp Professor McGonagall. "Of course, Professor." Then he gestured forward for Yn. "After you," he said through gritted teeth.

Yn frowned at his change in demeanour and not being one to hold much in she voiced her thoughts. "What's wrong with you?" She accused.

"What?" He spat; eyes trained ahead as they approached the stairs down to the dungeons.

"On the way here, you were a little too interested in my stay with the Rosiers. But as soon as we are around other people, you're acting like you couldn't wait to be further away from me. So, like what's your deal." She had to keep glancing up and down as she took steps to keep herself from tumbling down the narrow staircase.

Draco abruptly stopped on the stairs and Yn staggered, almost missing a step. "Don't give yourself too much importance Avery." Then Draco charged forward and refused to even look at her the rest of the way to common room. Draco did not account for the fact that Yn could be petty too. He would find out about the soon enough.

The narrow staircase opened to a wide-open space, encased in stone. Draco finally slowed as he approached a bare wall. He glanced once over his shoulder to check that Yn was still with him. It looked to Yn like he gulped before looking back up at the rough wall. "Pure-Blood," Draco projected towards the wall, his voice low.

Yn rolled her eyes. Why did this choice not surprise her?

Draco stepped aside as the stone serpent rose from the floor or on the right and slithered in an arch, forming the doorway. He held out her belongings. She stepped up taking them from him. Draco quickly snatched his hand back as he felt her warm skin against his cold hands. He cocked his head towards the door indicating for her to go inside.

Yn rolled her shoulders, as if she was preparing for a confrontation as she entered the round room. The first thing she noticed was the green light that spilled in through the windows that peek into the black lake. She forgot how dark everything was in the common room. Dark wood, leather sofas and medieval tapestries. She forgot about it all. She wasn't used to living like this. This was partially because her and her father never stayed in one place long enough to set up their own home how it had once been. She was always being shepherded from one hotel room to another ministry organised accommodation. Often, she slept in five different countries in a month and almost never in the same bed for longer than a week

"I presume you don't need a tour guide to find the girls dorms," Draco bitterly taunted from behind her.

She turned, looking at him in condemnation. "Seriously," she groaned. She had had enough of his attitude already. "Yeah, I think I got it." she spitefully concluded will she circled around to the staircase that led to the girl's dorms finally escape him.
