Kaveh's quill slipped from his grip.

It fell the short distance from his hand to his desk, before landing tip first, staining the previously neat paper with a blot of ink. He snapped out of whatever trance he was in beforehand, just in time to see the ink soaking into the paper, staining the work that he had spent the last hour on beyond repair. Though, despite how some of the words were obscured by the ink, the majority of the paper was legible, meaning that he would probably be able to copy it down word-for-word on a new sheet of paper.

Still, Kaveh found himself letting the hand which was previously holding the quill fall to his side as he leant back in his chair, finding the prospect of even just copying down a single page of writing a seemingly impossible task.

Consoling himself with the fact that the paper wasn't due in for another week or so, he slid the ruined sheet over to a corner of his desk, so that he would be able to copy it down onto a clean piece of paper whenever he found the motivation to do so. He tried not to think about the fact that there was a high chance he would completely forget about it if he didn't do it now, causing him to have to stay up until the early hours of the morning to finish it.

Well, that problem was for future Kaveh to deal with. And right now, present Kaveh just wanted to go down to the tavern and take his mind off his work with his friends and some drinks. He hadn't been able to go to the tavern for a good few days, what with both work and some Akademiya meeting that he'd not paid any attention to, so he was actually quite looking forward to getting out.

Kaveh stood up from his seat, stretching his arms above his head in an attempt to loosen his stiff body. Despite how he'd only been sitting down for barely an hour, it had seemed like much longer at the time. Not before reaching down to pick up his quill, he kicked his chair back under his desk and walked away in the direction of his bedroom door, tucking the teal feather behind his ear where it belonged as he walked.

He only got halfway to the front door when he was interrupted, stopping in his tracks as an annoying voice rang out, sounding nothing but unimpressed with him.

"Are you really going out?"

Kaveh turned around to see Alhaitham sitting on a couch, one leg crossed over the other with a book in his hand. He flicked over the page, eyes scanning from left to right at a speed that was definitely not normal for a human to be reading at and still somehow absorbing information. Kaveh decided not to comment on that, though, instead taking a step backwards, in the direction of the front door. "Have you got a problem with that?"

Infuriatingly, Alhaitham didn't even look up from his book, only turning the page again. "No, but if you get Ised, you're not stepping foot inside my house."

Kaveh stopped his slow movements towards the door, furrowing his brow in confusion. "What the hell is Ised?"

"Don't try playing dumb with me, I saw you at the announcement meeting." Once again, Alhaitham didn't look away from his book.

Kaveh thought for a second, trying to remember if he'd heard the word 'Ised' before anywhere, but found himself unable to think of anything. After another few seconds, it hit him. "Announcement meeting? The one yesterday that I didn't pay any attention to?"

Alhaitham finally looked up from his book, reaching down to slip a bookmark in the page he was on, before closing it with a sigh. After setting the book on the coffee table, he gestured to the couch next to the one he was sitting on. "Sit down."

Kaveh had half a mind to say something about how that was a bit over dramatic, but decided against it; he was curious about what was going on, and it must be important, even more so if it caused Alhaitham to put his book down just to explain it to him.
