Kasa's brown eyes stared at me with amusement, that particular glint in his eye. His lips weren't curled in an obvious smile, but rather a sly smirk.

"Kasa," I breathed out. Surely he wouldn't tell right? Kasa's the Lord of Secrets, so it would make sense for him to not tell..right? But..wait— why would Kasa be roaming around the halls this early in the morning on a weekend? Now, from the boy I remember from all those years ago, he wouldn't be doing anything this early on any day. Unless he was doing something he wasn't supposed to. "Never speak of this?" Kasa suggested, the corner of his mouth turned upward now. "Never," I expressed in an exasperated tone. Sending a single nod my way, Kasa strode off. I released a sigh of relief. And without any more hesitation, I opened the door and fled. I peered around at the forest, trying to determine where to go first. Mumbling to myself, I noticed something. The distant, yet prominent overlapping scents..despite my best efforts to try and determine the individual smells, it was all just too muddled..

I wandered for the majority of the morning, keeping an eye out for unusual things. So far, the only unusual thing I noticed were the smells. While I had tried to pursue the source, it's like there wasn't a source. Or if there had been a source, it was not physically present, much like how an animal's scent lingers after it's passed through the area..

I sighed irritably. Gods, if only this could be easier? What could possibly be out in these woods that the school wouldn't want us to see?

Groaning in frustration, I angrily plopped down onto a fallen log that had its own city of moss and mushrooms settled onto it. "What a stupid idea. There isn't even anything out here," I grumbled. My thoughts stopped shortly after though, as something shiny caught my eye. My eyes widened and I jumped up from the log, an excited gasp escaping from my mouth. I sprinted towards it, skidding to a stop as I realized what it was. I picked up the rope necklace, a golden colored gemstone hanging from it. "What..?" I mumbled, examining it. Why would a gemstone necklace be in the woods..especially when no one from Seaford is permitted to go into the forest?

Didn't your mother ever teach you not to touch things that don't belong to you..?

A voice whispered in my ears. Chills went down my spine. I whimpered, not liking the feeling that pooled in my stomach. My whole body seized up, as images flashed in my vision. A memory. Not just any memory, but a memory that hasn't happened yet. Just another fucking perk of my stupid scary ass powers. I saw myself standing here, in this exact position, but a tall woman was standing in front of me. I remembered her eyes..her eyes. Her left an icy blue, her right golden—exactly like the golden pair of eyes I saw in my dream—.

As I relieved that memory that hadn't happened yet, an odd feeling washed over me. A feeling I couldn't quite place.

"I don't like this.." I muttered, gently putting down the necklace. There was no way in hell I'd be taking something that caused my powers to kick in. Fat fucking chance. But what if someone else found it..?

No. Who fucking cares?

I continued running, eyes still peeled for something unusual. I did this all day, and when I came back from my secret trip to the woods, the only things I had found were the unique smells and the necklace.

How disappointing, yet relieving. I expected that I'd find something much more..dramatic. But there wasn't any good explanation as to why that gemstone necklace would be in there, unless someone else had been there..

With a tired and heavy sigh, I plopped down onto my bed. "Rough shopping trip?" Kiriel giggled, looking down at me. "Mhm, people were really annoying me today," I lied, feeling a stab of guilt as I had to lie my way out of this interaction. Oh well. The only reason I had decided to keep this a secret from my friends was to protect them from any dangers that lurked, and find out the truth.
