Later that evening
Jungkook's POV
I sighed in relief when I finally was able to close my math book. I had finished all my assignments and felt proud about it even though I might be poor, my skills at school were getting better by the day, my mother says I get my big brain from my father.
I chuckled at that, I wish I got to know him so I can tell him I loved him and how I admired him so much for doing all he could until sickness took over his body. My mother always told me stories about him and how much he loved us, I'm sure he would love to meet Taehyung.
Now that thought made my anxious, my teeth biting my bottom lip, I still was trying to avoid Taehyung wanting to introduce me to his parents. I knew the minute I step into his fancy house, his parents would hate me.
A deep wallowing sigh left my dry lips as my tongue slipped out to lick them, I need to get out of my head, maybe Taehyung's parents would like me...or, if I changed myself, got some money--
"Sweetpea, you're gonna get wrinkles if you keep frowning and pondering like that," my mother's sweet, comforting voice spoke from the living room, she had finally gotten Cho to sleep and rested on the couch.
"Sorry, mom." I apologized, smiling gently at her tired face.
"What's bothering you, sweetpea?" She asked carefully, concern lacing her features.
"Nothing serious, don't worry, mom." I reassured her, not wanting to put more stress on her shoulders.
"You know you can always come to me with anything, Jungkookie." My mother reminded firmly.
I smiled, nodding. "I will, mom. Thank you."
She smiled warmly at me before sighing in exhaustion and headed toward her bedroom. "Well, better hit the hay, I got another long day at work tomorrow."
"Right, goodnight, mom. I love you." I said warmly, kissing her cheek as she caressed my hair.
"Love you more, my son." She whispered proudly and after turning off the lamps, settled on her bed.
I went into my room as well, waiting in the darkness until I could hear my mother's soft snores, alerting me that now I could sneak out.
Slowly, I pushed my thin blanket aside, avoiding the wood boards that creaked and successfully got outside our tiny house without waking any of them.
I felt bad for leaving the house without permission, but I couldn't help it; I needed fresh air to clear my thoughts, it scared me how fast life was going, I need to have a plan for my future. My quiet sigh laced into the still, chilly night, I enjoyed the clear night sky, seeing all the gleaming stars and beautiful crescent moon.
The way the moon shined reminded me of how shiny and perfect Taehyung's smile is, I could never get enough of his cute, boxy smile.
I blushed unknowingly as I walked down the rough pavement of the sidewalk, remembering the times Taehyung's laughed with me, kissed me and made me feel like we could really be together, no matter our situations.
Still, there was a nagging feeling in the back of my head telling me I've made a mistake falling for Taehyung, I always tried to ignore those doubts.
Without even realizing it, I ended up walking to the ditch that separated us poor people from the rich. I could see all the tall mansions standing in full glory, wondering how big and spacious they were inside.
"Maybe one day we'll be in a house like that together..." I murmured to myself pitifully.
"Are you talking to yourself, baby?" A deep voice spoke, making me jump almost ten feet in the air.
I quickly twisted around to see my boyfriend smiling widely at me, how the hell did he get out here???
"TaeTae?! W-What...H-How..."
Taehyung rubbed his nape nervously. "I would have told you I was coming over in advance but you don't have a phone yet, so surprise!~"
I shook my head in shock. "You definitely surprised me."
"Sorry about that, beautiful. I wanted to give you something," Taehyung admitted shyly.
"R-Really? But it's not our anniversary..." I replied, puzzled.
"I just wanted to surprise you, baby. You know you deserve the world." Taehyung claimed truthfully, handing me a small black box.
"Aww, TaeTae...you didn't have to..." I murmured, blushing deeply, my heart beating rapidly.
"I wanted to, Kookie. Open it," he encouraged me, smiling softly.
I nodded quietly, carefully opening the box lid, gasping once my eyes landed on what was inside.
Taehyung fiddled with his fingers nervously. "I-I know you don't like me spending lots of money on you, but I made it with my own hands...so I didn't spend much, I promise."
I felt tears enter my eyes as I gently pulled out the silver necklace with a hand-made silver heart that was slightly crooked, it had a pretty blue crystal in the middle, making the heart shine in the moonlight.
"Oh, Tae...it's so freaking beautiful...I love it so much," I whispered in happiness, a wide smile on my lips as I kept staring at the perfect necklace in my hands.
Taehyung beamed with pride. "Let me put it on you, baby."
I giggled at that, wiping my tears away as I turned around, feeling Taehyung slip the necklace over my neck, resting the pretty heart just below my collarbone.
"There we go, it looks magnificent on you, beautiful." Taehyung said sweetly after I faced him again.
I gave him a big kiss. "Thank you so much for this, Taehyung...I love it so much."
Taehyung wrapped his arms around me securely. "You're welcome, Kookie...I love you."
"I love you more, Taehyung..." I murmured into his neck, feeling his steady heartbeat which matched mine, even though mine stuttered a bit from our close proximity.
We continued to stay in each other's embrace throughout the night, I didn't care if it was cold outside or if we had school tomorrow; here, in his arms, I felt safe and content, even though our future was uncertain, I wanted him to be in my future no matter the hardships.
I just hope he feels that passionately for me...
