Author's POV
"Mom! Have you seen my school bag??" Jungkook asked, looking around his tiny room. He kept it pretty clean since a twin bed and a small dresser could only fit in his room so it didn't get dirty often.
"Check in my room, sweet pea." Mrs. Jeon called from the kitchen.
"Okay!" Jungkook replied and slipped out of his room, taking a step into the hallway and entering his mother's bedroom.
She didn't have a door so Jungkook just stepped in, seeing a plain mattress, a large dresser and a small closet. Quickly, Jungkook looked around her room, seeing some baby toys and shoes laying on the floor.
"I found it!" Jungkook shouted gleefully as he found his ratty brown school bag behind his mother's bed.
"Now how did it end up there??" Mrs. Jeon raised an eyebrow as Jungkook stepped into the kitchen.
"Probably a mischievous little guy like Cho put it there." Jungkook referred to his 3 year old baby brother innocently sitting on their mother's lap.
Mrs. Jeon chuckled at that. "Perhaps. Are you ready for school now, sweet pea?" She asked, handing him a crinkly brown bag that held his lunch.
"Mhmm! I'll be back soon mon, I love you." Jungkook beamed and leaned down to gently peck his mother's cheek and ruffled Cho's soft hair.
"Love you more, sweet pea." Mrs. Jeon smiled and watched as her son smiled back and exited out the creaky front door.
Dry air filled Jungkook's nose as he stepped off their tiny house porch and started walking down his street. Soon it was going to be fall, which meant lots of cold nights for Jungkook and his family. The young fellow sighed, he wished they didn't have to be cold this winter but they didn't have much. Their house was small, very small, a pale green color with a jumpable fence around it. Jungkook's room wasn't even a room, it was a closet so as he grew, his mother gave him his own space, that large closet.
Jungkook wasn't ungrateful or ashamed of the life he lives, he just wallows in it sometimes. The kitchen was also the living room and the restroom was thankfully a bit big but if not careful, you could hit your head on the showerhead. All around Jungkook were houses like his, small, dirty, uneven and simple. But he liked it, he knew everyone in this neighborbood, people living here would go out on their porches and the night would be filled with smoke and laughter.
Jungkook had to admit, it wasn't the safest place, once again a person was attacked here but everyone usually kept an eye on things like that. So Jungkook walked calmly as the sun began to rise, he had to wake up earlier if he wanted to make it on time for school. He soon saw other kids and walked up to his school, he was a proud senior and couldn't wait to graduate so he could finally get a job.
His mother wanted him to finish school before getting a job so he was excited, he knew he didn't have a chance at college, too expensive but he didn't mind, all Jungkook wanted was to start working and finally get his mother a proper home, shower her with gifts and love just like she's been doing his entire life. Jungkook daydreamed as he swung the school's front door open and headed straight to the library where he usually waited for school to start.
Not many teens were here at this time but a few early birds and sports people were there. Jungkook was used to their disgusted stares and hushed whispering, he felt a bit embarrassed every time, yet he tries to ignore them.
