Sound asleep, something awakens me with a jolt, but unsure of what, I look around and see only my dog, who had jumped up next to me sometime earlier in the night and is now fast asleep, snoring slightly. Noticing my clock blinking 3:33, I get up for a glass of water. The hallway is pitch black, and as childish as it may be, I suddenly become nervous going down it alone. Running to switch the light on, I proceed downstairs. Once in the kitchen, while reaching for my cabinet, something i'd never heard before pierces through my ears, and rings through the house, sending shivers down my spine. It sounded like a... laugh? Frozen with fear, and too scared to go see what it was (i've watched scary movies before and there was no way i was checking it out), I decide to try ignoring it and heading back upstairs. Just as I slip under the covers, I hear it again. It's definitely a laugh; a deep, maniacal laugh. Was it getting closer? The dog leaps up and starts barking at the doorway. Can she see someone or something I can't? All of a sudden, a tall black figure with no face came sprinting at me, getting closer and closer making loud thumps against the hard floor. I shut my eyes as tight as I can and hear myself screaming at the top of my lungs.
I come to to my dog licking my face. Was it all a dream? Scared to do so, I reluctantly open my eyes, look around and realize everything is calm and silent but I have a strange, eerie feeling I'm being watched. Grabbing a few things including my dog Sirius and my cat Cookie, I get in my car and drive to my boyfriend James' house. He didn't believe in such things, but always let me rant to him anyways. He was pretty used to it as we have been dating for about three years now. Putting the animals down to roam, I stroll into his room and see him on his phone in bed. He jumps a bit when he sees me, then pats the bed for me to crawl up next to him. After telling him what had happened, he tries changing the subject by offering to go for a walk in the park. I accept, but can't get what happened out my mind until we are passing the lake and see someone floating on the water. James, trying to see what I had stopped walking to look at, seems as if he can't see the woman just floating there in a white (wedding?) dress. I panic and tell him to call 911 but he looks at me weirdly instead.
   "Can't you see her?!"
"See who, babe? Are you okay? I think you're just on edge from your nightmare. Let's go home."
And just as suddenly as I had noticed her, she's gone, like she'd never been out there in the first place.
"What?" I quietly mumble to myself in confusion, so that James can't hear me.
The walk home is quiet and I know James is watching more intently as if I am going to start seeing random things all over the place and freak out. We get back to his place and decide I should just stay the night, as neither of us have work tomorrow. I watch as James tosses a pizza in the oven, and choose to take a quick shower while waiting for the food. Turning the water on, I look in the mirror and wonder what's happening. Maybe it was a dream, or an off day. I step in the steaming shower and slowly cleanse myself while getting lost in my thoughts. 'Why did I hear laughing? Who was it? And did I even actually hear laughing at all?'
A million thoughts make their way through my mind, one after the other before I can even really process anything, when I get snapped back into reality by James pulling the shower curtain back, startling me. Noticing the distress on my face, he apologizes and gets in with me, stating that the pizza is cooling off on the counter. When James is done, seeing that I had already cleansed myself, we get out, dry off and dress ourselves, then head to the kitchen where we indulge in the pizza, realizing I haven't eaten all day and am starving. I put the dishes away and wipe the counters while James starts looking for a movie to watch before bed. About halfway through the movie, at 9:13, I pass out on James' shoulder and wake later to find that he carried me to bed. He is sound asleep and I check to see the clock read 3:32 a.m. There is a raging storm outside which, thankfully, always calms me down seeing as I am scared of everything a little girl would be scared of. Slowly being calmed by the storm, I cozy up to James, my head on his shoulder, my arm wrapped around him, and start dozing off. Did I hear the laugh again? But I'm too tired and fall into a sleep consisting of a beautiful, warm dream turn pure evil.
I gain consciousness suddenly being freezing and alone in bed. ' Please be actually awake, please.' I think to myself.
"James?" I call out. No response. "James!" I cry louder this time.
"Bathroom." I hear his response and calm down a little, going around to make sure all windows are closed and locked. They are.
"Why is it so cold in here?" Not hearing a response I walk to the thermostat. Confused, I read - 73 degrees. Why is everything so weird all of a sudden? I figure to just ignore it, coming to the conclusion that I must be sick. Seeing James walk back to the bedroom, I follow him; But getting in the room I realize he isn't anywhere to be seen.
     "James?"
"I told you i'm in the bathroom."
In a slight daze, I decide to go back to bed and wait for him, but I fall asleep before he even comes back. I slightly arise to the bed being pushed down, the smell his sweet, faded cologne, and hear his soft breathing. He lays down and pulls me close to him so that my head is on his chest and i'm suddenly filled with warmth. We quickly fall into a deep peaceful sleep.
James stirs in his sleep, causing me to do the same. Slowly dragging myself out of bed, I head to the bathroom and to make some breakfast. In the kitchen, I make a simple breakfast of bacon and eggs, the smell beaconing out to James. We eat our breakfast while small talking now and again, and begin to clean up. Wondering why I already have to go again, I head back to the bathroom then join James for a trip to the grocery store. We get back and put the stuff away, then settle back in bed for a lazy day movie marathon.

Okay, i know this isn't the best story and kind of has a fast pace. But let me know if i should improve it a bit and make part two!!
