Chapter 9 Lucky I'm in Love with My Best Friend (Part 1)

Merida and Hiccup spent the whole day fighting each other. So far Merida is always the winner in most rounds.
Merida dangled her sword on Hiccup's fire sword. Hiccup lost his grip and his sword fell down.

"Why do you always win?" Hiccup asked.
"That's because I am a princess who acts like a warrior and you are a chief who is a geek in dragons" Merida laughed.
"I'm not a geek. I'm just interested in it. It's not like you're a geek in fighting" Hiccup protested.
"Good point. For me, it's the only time to stay away from princesses stuff, rules, manners, and their is no time to do the things that you usually do" Merida said.
"I know how you feel. Being chief is harder than I thought it could be" Hiccup added.
"All I wanted in my life is to be... You know" Merida said.
"Free?" Hiccup continued.
"Yeah, you know how I feel" Merida said. She stood up and went out of the room.
"Where are you going?" Hiccup asked.
"Outside, to walk" Merida replied.
"Can I go with you?" Hiccup asked.
"Okay" Merida blushed.

Hiccup and Merida went outside to the woods. They went to the same lake where Elsa and Pitch fought for the amulet.
Hiccup touched the icy pond.

"The pond is frozen solid! That was fast" He exclaimed.
"That's because we are in the North Pole. One of the most coldest places in the world" Merida explained.
"Do you think the pond is good for skating?" She asked.
"Skating? You skate?" Hiccup asked.
"No, I just want to try it. These are one of the days that I could be free" Merida answered.
"I think I should do the same thing" Hiccup thought.
"You should be free right now. People say when you are to serious, you will die in a young age" Merida suggeted.
"I guess the ice is thick enough" Hiccup said.
"Good. I'm going to skate. I mean I'll try to skate" Merida corrected.

She took her first step on the pond. She almost slip but she got her balance. She glide left and right.

"On second thought, I'll be staying here and watch over you. Skating is not really my thing. You see I only have one leg. It's hard to skate with a metal peg leg" Hiccup excused.
"Come on! You can do it!" Merida exclaimed.

She pulled Hiccup to the pond. The two love birds skated. They fell several times but enjoyed their love.
They had a snowball fight and catch some fish. They went up the mountain and slid down the snow. They trip on a rock. Next thing they knew they were flying like the air.
They crash landed on a big, lumpy, hump of snow. Merida accidentally fell on Hiccup. Their eyes meet. They felt speechless to each other.

"(Clears throat) Hiccup, I'm so sorry" Merida confessed.
"It's okay, Toothless does that to me all the time" Hiccup said.
"What do you want to do now?" He asked.
"Watch the sunset. When I was a little girl, I always watch the sunset before I go to sleep" Merida replied.
"Let's do it now. We have time to watch the sunset" Hiccup suggested.

The two of them walked to the campfire place just in front of the Palace.
They sat on the chilly, brown, logs on the cold winter snow. They watched the sunset setting by the two, big, white, snowy, mountains.

"This is my first time to watch the sunset for the last ten years" Merida said.
"Are you serious?" Hiccup asked.
"Yeah, my mother forced me to sleep early everyday" Merida replied.
"I can't imagine" Hiccup thought.
"I know right" Merida added.
"Can I tell you something?" Hiccup asked.
"Yeah" Merida replied.
"When I first came here to the Big Five, I found the perfect girl for me" Hiccup said.
"Asstrid?" Merida asked.
"No, that perfect girl for me is you" Hiccup said. Merida's eyes widened.
"Me? Why me?" She asked.
"You are always there for me when I need you. You never give up in your life. You never liked girly stuff like Rapunzel does. You are boyish but for me, I love you just the way you are" Hiccup explained.
"I was thinking the same thing" Merida smiled.

She leaned on Hiccup's chest listening to his beating heartbeat. Hiccup pulled her shoulders to him as they watch the sunset.
