Frank's POV

"What horror?" I asked. In an ode to my boyfriend I was gonna be sassy, but subtle. "Did you watch The Ring again?"
"No time for jokes Frank. We need to straighten out this homosexuality."
"I think straightening is besides the point."
"You are not a fag, son."
"No one is a fag, father."
"Gay people are."
"Fag's not a nice word, try something like 'homosexual.'"
"Fine. You are not a homosexual."
"Uh, but I am."
"Surely you've had a girlfriend before."
"No. You sent me to an all boys boarding school remember?"
"That did not turn you gay."
"Nothing 'turns you' gay. But it did help me realize."
"So you have had a boyfriend before Gerald!"
"One. His name is Gerard. Two. No but I've seen a lot of asses."
"FRANK! I am your father, I do not need to be spoken to this way!"
"Sorry. Thought you wanted to clear things up."
"I do. You, however, are being very uncooperative, so I'm getting right to the point."
"Go-on. "
"You break up with Gerard."
"No can do. I'm head over heels."
"I will do something."
"What does Mum think?"
"Of what?"
"Your reaction, she's already met Gerard."
"What?"
"She caught me kissing him the night of our date and invited him in for coffee."
"Really? What did she say about you being with a boy?!"
"Nothing. She said she liked Gee and was hoping to see him again."
"So she doesn't see anything wrong with it?"
"No. Most people don't. It is the twenty-first century.
"But it is tradition!"
"To hate on people?"
"No." He was defeated.
"I think it's you who needs to straighten things out, Dad. See you later."
With that I pushed him out of my room and closed the door. Triumph filled me!
