Trying to have a conversation with Lalisa was like talking to a wall. She often either got lost in thoughts or ignored me. It was as if she was a fortress, built in such complicated and resistant ways that you couldn't enter without her permission. It irritated me. I just wanted to know her better, I had no ulterior motive.

«Lalisa, I'm talking to you. It's not polite what you're doing.» I said a hint of annoyance in my voice, but it fell on deaf ears «Lalisa!» I raised a little my voice, but still nothing. I groaned and focused on not burning myself as I drank my hot chocolate.

Like a wall for real.

I was halfway through my chocolate, the Thai girl in front of me still had to take even one sip. Enough was enough.
I slammed my hands on the table «Lalisa!» she jumped on her feet and looked around, her eyes darting everywhere and then settling on me as she shook a little «Thanks for coming back to me.» I said rolling my eyes as she blinked a bunch of times, then slowly sat on her chair and said anxiously
«I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Don't hurt me. I'll do whatever you want.»

I frowned at her sentence and gave her my full attention, my eyes widened as I really took notice of what was going on; she was shaking, tears about to leave her eyes, straight back, head down, hands in tight fists on her thighs. What had happened to her for her to react this way?

I stood up and placed a hand on her shoulder, making her jump and shut her eyes closed, quickly standing up and throwing herself on her knees, her hands quickly moving to my jeans trying to open them as I said shocked «Woah, woah, woah!» I placed my hands on her wrists, holding her still «What do you think you're doing?!» she flinched and looked up at me terrified.

I took a deep breath and kneeled in front of her, letting her wrists go and gently pulling her close to me. Her chin resting on my shoulder, as one of my hands went through her hair and the other was on her back, keeping her safe against me, as she seemed frozen.

«Sssh, Lalisa. Snap out of it. It's okay, I'm not mad and I don't want to hurt you. Please calm down, I mean no harm. I'm sorry if my actions triggered something in you. But I don't know you. I can make mistakes.» I held her against me for a while until I felt her relax, her hands clinging to my shirt and soft sobs escaping her as she said
«I'm sorry, I'm sorry.»
«Sssh. Don't be. You did nothing wrong. Sssh. You're okay.» I held her there crying until she calmed down, then we slowly stood up and I made her drink some of her hot choco, as I rubbed her back as she once again dried her tears and running nose on her clothes making me roll my eyes.

Doesn't she know how to use a tissue? Eww.

After she took a few sips she confessed «Sudden loud noises, people yelling at me, raising hands even if for a joke, unexpected touches... Those are some triggers....»
I hummed and pulled a chair to sit beside her «Alright. I'll make sure to avoid doing any of those.»
She nodded «Thanks...» she kept drinking her beverage as I finished mine and looked at her.
