CHAPTER 2
CAPE CAIRN, EMPIRE OF THE STYRD
GREATER EMPIRE OF PARNONAs the sun set on Cape Cairn, a coastal Parnish city with mesmerizing mountains in the background, a crowd gathered on the streets below one of the many towering skyscrapers. They were enchanted by the sight of a mysterious man dangerously riding a hoverbike. The man had started his journey by riding the bike vertically, down a huge column of the skyscraper, defying gravity with ease. The crowd, with their handhelds out recording and uploading to the Gridlink, held their breath as he maneuvered through the air, performing stunts that seemed impossible.
The hoverbike was a sleek, black machine that has dark blue accents painted across it while the suspension mechanism under it glows with the same color. It hummed softly as it zipped through the air, leaving a trail of blue light in its wake. The rider, dressed in a black jumpsuit and a helmet that obscured his face, seemed completely in control of the bike. He swerved and weaved through the traffic with other hovering vehicles, dodging obstacles that would have sent a lesser rider crashing to the ground.
The mysterious man on the hoverbike continued his high-flying stunt as if he had a death wish, navigating through the neon-lit skyline of the coastal city that also served as the capital of the The Styrd Empire in Parnon. The crowd's excitement lingered in the air as they eventually dispersed. Suddenly, the man's stunt was interrupted by the blaring of sirens as the city's security officers chased after him. The hoverbike rider accelerated, dodging around buildings and other hovercrafts, weaving through the air in a desperate attempt to evade the authorities.
The authorities' vehicles, however, were not easily deterred, especially after finding out through a quick scan that the vehicle is unregistered and has no record anywhere. They chased after the hoverbike, swerving through the air and firing warning shots. The man on the hoverbike continued to push the limits of the vehicle, racing through the city at an increasingly dangerous pace. If it's even possible to listen closely, you would hear the mysterious man laugh. He knew he can easily lose the authorities, or risk being caught and exposed.
The chase intensified, and the man on the hoverbike was pushed to the brink of exhaustion at some point, but this was also too fun for him. He however had to find a way to evade the pursuers, and fast. Suddenly, he turned a narrow but long alleyway that can be easily missed by those unfamiliar with this part of Cape Cairn. He decided to veer in the alleyway at breakneck speed.
The security vehicles followed him closely, but the man on the hoverbike was too quick for them. He pulled off a daring stunt, soaring through the narrow alleyway and has mysteriously vanished as apparently there are signal jammers in the area. The authorities' vehicles were too large to follow, and the man on the hoverbike was now nowhere in sight.
"Prota Coen!" said a female while a man carried his helmet by his side. The man, who was Parnish with caramel-colored hair, honey-toned skin, and piercing blue eyes, took a seat at the bar where an olive-skinned, curly-haired, oval-faced woman was tidying up. She spoke up and asked, "Must you show off your bike on the network again?" and concluded with another expletive, "Naekna Prota!"
