CHAPTER 4
ROYAL PALACE, GRAND RIVARCH
GREATER EMPIRE OF PARNON

An immense marble double door swung open slowly, its reverberating sound announcing the arrival of Prince Caelius and his guards. The prince had shed his armor from the homecoming parade and was now clad in a regal green jerkin adorned with intricate golden accents. The opulence of the hall was befitting of royalty, with elaborate designs adorning the walls and a gigantic bifurcated stairway leading to the eastern and western wings. The Parnon flag draped elegantly throughout the main foyer, adding to the majestic ambiance of the palace.

"Welcome home, my son! We have missed you." greeted a gentle, maternal voice as the champion returned. Standing before him was a regal lady, dignified and graceful, dressed in a luxurious gown befitting her status as the mother of the empire. The gown was a masterpiece of design, with a vibrant shade of blue that accentuated her poise, and intricate embroidery and lacework that added depth to its beauty. The voluminous skirt flowed elegantly, adorned with precious gemstones that shimmered with every movement framing her round-shaped face with caramel-colored skin, jade green eyes, and blonde hair.

"We, Mother?" the prince gave a light laugh. "Are you sure it's a 'We' and not just you?" Cael said as he approached his mother to give her a kiss on the cheek as he held her arms gently. " I am sure the Grand Emperor and my brothers care little about my win." he continued

Cupping her son's cheek with her right hand, the Grand Empress Consort, Vesta Mathilda Cyningmore, nee Leonhart, hushed with her left. "My prince, not so loud. They care about you greatly. There was much celebration when you won from your father and older brothers."

"So tell me, how are you, my princely son? You had such a very long month." The Grand Empress Consort then tried changing the topic as she moved to hold her son's hands.

Sighing "Just a little bit tired mother. I am not looking forward to tomorrow's interviews." Prince Cael's exasperation was clearly evident.
