The airport was more crowded than she'd imagined, Samantha's legs shook from nerves; this was her first time on a plane, she was too scared to miss any of the information passed from the speakers so she paid rapt attention to every single beep or in this case the vast silence. Leaving Kentucky had never been on the top five of her wish list but her best friend decided to make that wish for her.
The huge airplanes she could see from where she was seated spiked her anxiety, tapping her fingers on her knee seemed to be working in calming her down so she continued with that. Cancelling on her best friend who didn't even know she was coming was on another level of 'what the actual fuck?'.
Because this wasn't a regular visit, this was a cry for help, she was fleeing from a situation she wasn't ready for yet and at two am the previous day she thought, why not go to Seattle? Only thing was she didn't think about it, a crisis occurred and getting out of Kentucky was the next best thing to do, hence why she was seated in the airport waiting for her flight to be called.
Her phone vibrated in her pocket startling both her and the person seated close to her, "I'm sorry." she apologized before picking up, "Hello?"
"Sam? Where are you? Why aren't you picking my calls?" The sound of Fabian's voice sent a different jolt through her, he was the reason for this impromptu trip.
"I- I wasn't wi-th my phone." Samantha bit her lip, she was never a great liar... with him.
"What's wrong baby? Tell me about it and we'll fix it, I'm at your door right now; please let me in so I can fix whatever is going on."
Unwanted tears welled up in Samantha's eyes betraying the level headedness she swore to keep, "There's nothing wrong Fabe, I just need to go see someone. You might not be able to reach me for some time but please let me do this."
"Is there another guy?"
"There's nobody else." Fabian let out a sigh of relief through the receiver making Samantha smile.
"Where are you my love? I'll come to you-"
"This is the final boarding call for passenger Samantha booked on flight 365C to Seattle. Please proceed to gate 1 immediately. The final checks are being completed and the captain will order for the doors of the aircraft to close in approximately five minutes time."
Samantha grabbed her bags, asking a guard standing by the side for directions. "Fabe, I'll text you as soon as I can. I have to go."
"Sam where are you going? Was that a boarding announcement? Sam wait for me, I'll come to the airport and we can talk through this" Samantha heard a car door shut.
"Don't bother, you won't make it in time. I'm already boarding, I have to go."
"Sam-"
Disconnecting the call, Samantha switched off her cell phone dumping it into her bag. Her head was full enough to entertain herself till they landed, watching Encanto with the child seated beside her would also suffice.

Flying was an experience alright, Samantha folded her hands together a little tightly when the plane took off, the change in altitude made her feel woozy for the first few seconds; she'd been given a window seat so the precious view was hers to take in. Debunking all the myths of claustrophobia and acrophobia she'd fed herself with all her years, Sam settled in to enjoy her trip. The child beside her was a blessing in disguise, one who made her laugh for most of the journey till exhaustion wore in, his tiny head was on her arm in an odd angle, mouth wide open.
"I'm so sorry about him." His mother, a very young looking woman clipped a neck pillow on him. "We can't get him to pipe down. I'm Bryce by the way and this little one is Matt"
