"Emma! Wake up honey" said a gentle voice, subtly shaking Emma's frame. She stirred and groaned. Not being what one could call, a morning person, she turned on her side and pulled the soft duvet over herself.
"Emma you better be up in the next minute, or I'll have to revert o harsh methods," Molly said, as the auburn-haired girl heard the sound of curtains being pulled back. Sunlight entered the room in full force, attacking Emma's eyes, and causing morning light.
"Emma!" Molly said striding up to her and pulling away the pillow. Emma's face scrunched up, as she raised her hand to cover her eyes. Blinking, she stared at her mother. The sunlight made her eysquintirt. She pulled out a pillow from underneath and used it as a cover to shield her eyes from the harsh.
"Mum" she groaned. "What's the rush?" she asked flopping back on the bed, as her lips shaped a tired yawn.
"What's the rush?" Her mother repeated, picking up a few things strewn untidily all across the length of the floor. "Are you the same girl, that literally couldn't wait and was ready to pull off an all-nighter in the excitement of going school shopping to Diagon Alley?" she asked.
Emma's eyes popped wide open, the sunlight, apparently not being a barrier anymore. She quickly sat up and massaged her forehead.
"That's today?" she asked. "Oh my god, I must be getting dementia" she mused.
"Oh shush!" Molly said, amused. "Now quickly get ready, we don't have much time to spare, since your letter arrived so late in the first place," she said. "And, tidy your room up a little bit, Emma. These things are good enough to pierce someone's foot." Molly walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her. 'Come fast!" she yelled.
Emma got up, smiling slightly, today was the day she'd finally get her wand. Just imagining the possibilities of what could be done with it, made her stomach swirl with excitement and impatience. It would be like a deluxe pranking weapon, was all she could think, while she got ready for the day, awaiting her. She skipped down the stairs, positively in a good mood, only to be met with a sight that made it elevate even more if possible. Her lips turned into a huge grin, upon seeing what was happening.
Percy was seated at his regular place on the table, but what was not regular was a brilliant patch of pink adorning the back of his head, which he was blissfully oblivious to, judging by the fact that he munched his cereal looking like the most carefree guy in the whole wide world. Emma guessed that apart from Ginny, mum, dad, and Percy himself all others on the table knew about this little development, whose full credit most probably went to Fred and Georg because they all were passing concealed smirks to each other.
Emma joined her family sitting in between Charlie and George. Charlie passed her a swift grin, which she duly returned. She then turned to one of her triplets.
"What did you do?" she asked, subtly, trying to go unnoticed by Percy, which wasn't a very hard thing, now that you carefully think about it.
"What you can see" George replied, unobtrusively
"It's brilliant," she said, to which he smiled. "Although, why didn't you both tell me about it?" she asked.
"It was planned last minute, and Fred did go to call you, but you were in the bathroom" he replied. Emma nodded, and smiled,
"Good job, anyways" she complimented.
At that precise moment, Percy got up, the poor boy still utterly unknown of the fact that his reputation was being controlled by a blob of pink dye. He turned around to put away his bowl, and wash his hands, exposing the pink patch on the back of his head
The table, apart from Molly and Arthur, burst into snickers. Fred winked at Emma, and she returned a grin.
"Uh..." Molly began her face contorted into a confused and incredulous expression. "Percy, did you rub your head vigorously against a surface having pink chalk or something?" She asked, making the other giggle even harder.
