"Okay," Emma said dropping her books on the table and making Cedric jump in surprise, "Let's get this over with"
"Well, it's nice to see you too' he said shutting the book he had been reading. Emma rolled her eyes. He looked at her with a curious expression on his face while she hurriedly flipped through her books
"What?" She said upon noticing his gaze on her
"Oh, just trying to remember the reason you gave for hating me," he said casually. "Wait a minute, you didn't"
Emma looked down sheepishly at that. It was true. Did she have any real reason at all?
'I don't hate you' she said.
"Yeah," He said quirking a brow.
"See" she began in an attempt to diffuse the slight tension. "Hate is such a strong word, I wouldn't call my feelings for your hate. It's more like, indifference' she said. "And, I fail to see why it bothers you anyway. You probably have hundreds of girls fawning over you day and night."
'And what makes you think that?" He asked
"Well, look at you," she said, without thinking. A mischievous smirk made its way onto his face.
"So you're suggesting I'm good-looking," he said.
Emma felt her cheeks heat up in embarrassment at that 'I didn't say that' she said through clenched teeth.
'You implied it" he said simply with a grin. Before she could open her mouth to argue, however, he said, "relax Weasley. Just messing with you."
"Can we just get started? I have a lot of work in other subjects as well. And I need to make enough time for History since, I well... "she trailed off, realizing she probably shouldn't tell everyone about how exceedingly ridiculous her mind seems to get while working on History
"Oh," he said. "I could help you if you want."
Emma looked at him, incredulously. His face was absolutely serious, with no hint of any teasing or ridiculing her. "Thanks, I can do it by myself. Besides, I have people help me with it."
"Right," he said. "Let's get started then."
Emma nodded. A little piece of her mind, however, could not seem to stop dwelling on the way he had offered extra help to her, it led her to ask herself, was he one of those boys who thought they were better than everyone else just because they were slightly better looking? Or was he truly a good person?
"So' Fred said. "How'd it go with Diggory?"
"It was okay," Emma said plonking down next to her brother on the sofa back in their common room
"What's he like?" Katie asked enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling with interest
"Well, well," George said with a smirk. "Look who has a crush"
Katie blushed. "I don't have a crush' she defended herself. "I was merely curious"
Emma smiled at her. "Don't bother Kate, he's not crush-worthy' she said
'I don't-"
"I know, I know," Emma said just as Katie began to argue in her defense. "I'm just saying. And it was a study session. We weren't getting to know each other?"
"So you two didn't talk at all? "Katie asked.
"No. Strictly professional "Emma joked
"Alright, alright Enough about Diggory," Lee said, "Let's move on to something a bit more enthralling. The first match of the Quidditch season is approaching ."
