#Mbali's P.O.V

We arrived at his house after an hour of jokes and him constantly reminding me of how breathtaking I looked. He parked in front of the gate and pressed a button on the gate intercom and he told his mom to buzz him in and in a few seconds the gate slided to the left. He drove in as I felt like I was in heaven. I'd never seen such beauty in my life...it was a double-storey glass house with novel peach walls. You could see the furniture inside the house and next to it was a fountain looking like structure that was surrounded by water. In front, there was a U-shaped pool which was also spectacular.

"wow, you didn't mention that heaven was your home" I said not looking at him and he chuckled

"wow, you didn't mention that heaven was your home" I said not looking at him and he chuckled.
"it's not a big deal, you'll get used to it. Come let's go inside" he said then he stepped out of the car and I followed his lead.
"now i'm feeling kinda nervous" I stopped on my tracks and he turned around and smiled at me as he took my hands into his.
"don't worry...my family is welcoming, just be yourself and you'll be just fine. Okay?"
"I'll try" he entwined my right hand into his and we walked hand in hand. He opened the door and my nerves flew out the window as I took in the beauty of the kitchen.
"Oh...my...God! It's soo beautiful" I put my hand on my mouth. At some point I thought I was stuck in a long dream, but no...this was all real.

"you must be Mbali" a beautiful woman who seemed to be in her 40s said with a smile

"you must be Mbali" a beautiful woman who seemed to be in her 40s said with a smile. I didn't even see her there. She came forward unwrapping her apron and I cleared my throat and the nerves creeped in and I caught a glance of Pelo giving me a reassuring smile.
"um...hi, ma. Yes it is" she gave me a warm hug before taking a good look at me.
"Mbali meet my mom and mom this is Mbali" Pelo said.
"nice to meet you, ma" I said.
"likewise, call me Lizzy dear" she giggled and Pelo left me alone with her in the big kitchen and the nerves got worse, I could strangle Pelo for leaving me in such a situation.
"if you could see the look on your face...loosen up, I don't bite" she smiled and I calmed down a bit giving her a smile too.
"do you need any help?" I asked.
"thought you wouldn't ask, come on" she handed me an apron after directing me to put my bag in Pelo's room, but he approached me and I gave it to him and walked back to the kitchen and she instructed me to get started with the potato salad whilst she was preparing the creamy spinach. Within a few minutes we were done and I was helping her set the table. She had made grilled chicken and boerewors, four salads (with my help of course): potato salad, greek salad, creamed spinach and chakalaka. I put Portuguese rolls in a glass bowl, and pap in another. Then she filled the jug with guava juice then everything was set.
"I hope you don't have any allergies" she said whilst squinting her eyes and I giggled.
"no m-...Liz" she laughed at me accidentally calling her ma and she went to go call everyone to eat.
We were now seated at the table. Eddie sat on the far end of the table and Liz was on his right, Pelo on his left whereas I sat next to him and the twins were separated one was next to me whilst the other was opposite. Liz said grace and we started eating.
"so how are you, my daughter? I didn't get to greet you" Eddie said.
"I'm good baba thanks for asking" I smiled.
"so no one's going to introduce us to the pretty lady?" one of the twins said as he took a sip of his juice.
We all laughed.
"I'm-"
"she's-" Pelo and I talked at the same time and stopped and everyone was looking at us. I felt my cheeks heat up.
"well she can speak for herself" Pelo said after looking at me.
"I'm Mbalenhle and you are?" I looked at the twin sitting opposite me.
"I'm Nthato" he brought his hand forward and we did a handshake on top of the table. "he's Thato...the brainless version of me" he said looking at his twin and I giggled whilst everyone else laughed at his remark and Thato sighed which made it funnier.
"Mbali please don't mind him since this was the only funniest joke he's ever made in his entire existence and I'm going to let him get the spotlight" Nthato glared at him and Thato ignored him.
"so...how did you guys meet?" Nthato asked as he glanced at Pelo and I and I swear I wanted to dig a hole and hide until the lunch was over. I looked and Pelo signaling him that he should amswer.
"at Andile's party" he said then continued eating.
"I wanna hear the whole story...don't leave anything out" Thato said with a smirk whilst he looked at me and suddenly I felt everyone's eyes on me. I cleared my throat.
"ahem...so, I was just taking a walk whilst checking out Andile's house - his backyard to be more precise. Then I went to the pool area...your brother was sitting on the pool wall with his feet inside the water and glued to his phone (looks at Pelo) I turned around to not disturb his peace since he isolated himself from the crowd, I didn't notice that he saw me or felt my presence rather...and he called me and we started talking" I explained and the twins gave me naughty smiles.
"that sounds super romantic" Thato blurted.
"I agree with you, kiddo" Liz added.
"so how long have you guys been dating? It must've been a while since you're being introduced to the fam" Thato asked and I felt my heart beat too fast.
"boys I think that's enough now...she's not at a police station, so stop with the 21 questions" Eddie called the boys to order and Pelo put his hand on my thigh and squeezed it.
"but on a serious note...you look good together, you should get married and make me the best man" Thato looked at me and we all laughed. Liz stood up to gather the dishes.
"it's fine ma, I'll do that. I'm sure you're tired from preparing the feast and thank you" I saod as I got up.
Thato looked at Pelo, "see why you should marry her?" we once again laughed and Pelo stood up to help me and we headed to the kitchen.

Pelo's P.O.V

Mbali opened the tap and poured the dishwashing liquid into the sink, then she started washing the dishes whilst I rinsed and wiped.

"I'm so angry at you dude" she whisper-yelled.
"what did I do?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"why is your whole family going on about our relationship?" That stung...especially the emphasis of the last two words of her question.
"I didn't tell them anything to make them think that we're in a relationship, and this is the honest truth" she gave me a dead stare "Mbali you know that I like you alot but I respected your decision on us being friends even though it breaks my heart, so claiming about you would only add on to what I'm feeling and make me seem like a jerk, so no" I unintentionally poured my heart out and I guess she didn't expect that so she was quiet and avoided eye contact and we continued washing the dishes in silence. When we were done we walked back to the dining room (still not talking to each other) and no one was there so I figured that they would be in the basement where the entertainment room/playroom was. It wasn't that fancy...well atleast I felt so. It had that arcade feel with street art decorations on the walls and a bowlimg arena. On the other side were boardgames and a bookshelf filled with the most interesting novels. And on the far end was the cinema room.

"didn't think you would get done so fast

"didn't think you would get done so fast...well Mbali this is the playroom" Nthato said and Mbali was still taking in her surroundings.
"this is cool" she replied.
"we already picked 30 Seconds and you guys are going to team up with Nthato and we'll team up with Thato" my dad said and I stole a glance of Mbali and she seemed to be uneasy. But as we started playing she loosened up. We were in the yellow team whereas my parents were in the blue one and we started. I was the describer.
"he's a South African comedian, he has a book and-" I yelled.
"Trevor Noah!" Mbali shouted and I smiled.
"good. A purple looking teddybear and it's green on its upper body" I described.
"Barney!" Nthato yelled and as I was about to go on onto the next description our time was up and it was the blue team's turn. At the end, our team won. Then we played scrabble and Mbali won. The twins suggested that we watch a movie so we went to the cinema room and they made us watch How Stella Got Her Groove Back I was surprised because it's an old movie and they knew it. We all had fun but unfortunately Mbali said she had to leave because she had told her mom that she'd be home by 8pm and it was now 6pm. She said her goodbyes, giving everyone a hug and they all seemed to be fond of her which warmed my heart. It actually motivated me to not give up until I had gottten her. Our drive to her house was silent...we both seemed to have alot on our minds and I didn't question her silence because I felt that she would be overwhelmed, plus I had done that already by expressing my feelings and my family adding on to it. We arrived and she took her bag and stepped out.
"bye" she said which sounded almost like a whisper.
"goodnight" I replied and she had already closed the door and walked slowly into her house. I left after making sure that she entered.
