okay I wanted to address 2 things, SORRY IVE BEEN GONE FOR SO LONG OMG. ive been so busy with everything I honestly forgot about this book. also, ik the whole "football player x cheerleader" is so cliche but I honestly wanted to write this so bad. enjoy :) (also this one is so giving "love story" by Taylor Swift)
Jackie surely was something else. I watched her from the sidelines, she spent the entirety of her sophomore year of high school attempting to convince the principal to let her on the team. When she found out she made it, a smile was plastered on her face for months. Im proud to say that my girlfriend is now on varsity and im her #1 cheerleader, quite literally in all honesty. I might not have been on the cheer team but I made sure to bring my own cowbell and everything for her.
It was almost 9 o'clock at night and stars were painted in the sky like spray paint. The field lights and the moon were the only things illuminating the loud crowds and the players. Their jerseys were white and dark blue with hints of gray and gold on their helmets. I saw my girl on the sidelines drinking her water.
she might be #7 but she's #1 in my heart.
The cheers of my classmates erupted through the small area that was our football field. It was the last game of the actual season and we were tied. if we won we'd be going to the state champion meet. my heart was in my throat for Jackie. I know that if she lost this game it'd be devastating. I looked at the clock, 32 seconds remaining.
I pushed through the crowd of people on the bleachers, turning around to a couple girls I knew. They always came to the girls decked out in our school colors with face paint and everything. They were pretty close to Jackie too, they were her friends so we didn't talk much which was probably why I was so surprised that they started talking to me.
"Hey, let's start a chant!" one of them said to me softly, pointing at #7. I smiled and nodded in agreement. The team lined up at the 47 yard line, getting into their positions. I saw my girlfriend get into her position, readying herself to start sprinting down the field. With where she was, provided she got around the other players she could very easily score.
I used my fingers to count down from three, the small group of girls consisting of 5 or 6, and including me, all spelt out her name.
"J-A-C-K-I-E" we yelled at the top of her lungs, I noticed her look over quickly before the whistle blew and she was on her way to run down the field. I watched with my heart in my throat as the quarterback launched the ball at her.
"GET THERE JACKIE! YOU CAN DO IT!" I screamed as loud as possible, praying that she'd catch it.
please please please... There's only 4 seconds left. I prayed, sweat emerging on my palms. The ball was just out of reach as she jumped to catch it in her hands, she slightly tripped but was able to keep her pace enough to push herself into the end zone. A player from the other teams defense brutally tackled her, but not before she scored the game winning point. I jumped up in excitement, so proud of my girl. I adjusted my light blue skirt and white t-shirt before sprinting down the bleachers and to the fence where the team was gathering.
"Jackie!" I yelled, trying to see her through the crowd.
"Okay guys, let her get the girl" one of my guy friends laughed, making a way for her to get through. I saw Jackie slightly jogging over to me, pulling the bulky helmet off her head, revealing her face and long brown hair and slightly tan skin. the eyeblack spelt out in "E"'s. I blushed slightly, she never told me she'd be doing that. her skin was glowing in the moonlight.
"hey cutie" she spoke softly as their team disbanded leaving us alone for the most part. The students on the bleachers all gathered around the players and cheered the names of their favorite players. I looked over to them and quickly back at her.
"y'know, they're all chanting different numbers and names but my favorite will always be number 7." I held her cheeks and pulled her into a gentle kiss. She was probably 2 inches taller than me, standing at a good 5 '6. She was short compared to the guys but she didn't let that get to her.
"sorry i'm all sweaty babe, I wish I was in better clothing rather than a dirty uniform"
"I think it's hot, don't worry about it." I smiled as she jumped the fence to stand next to me. I laughed as she struggled to get over it. She took off her jersey and gave it to me, leaving the bare equipment and her compression shirt. I loved that look. her toned muscles were very visible as her shirt was skin tight. It made me blush every time.
I put the jersey on, not worrying about the slight smell of dirt because beneath that it smelled like her.
"thoughts about getting ice cream? just the two of us" she held my hand as we walked off the field distanced from the crowds of people.
"What about your parents' love?"
"What about 'em? They didn't show up anyways."
I didn't even realize it...
"im sorry, I didn't notice"
"its okay Elie, you're all I need." she kissed my cheek, squeezing my hand 3 times. it's our way of saying 'I love you' and I did it back.
"I would love to get some ice cream with you" I nodded, smiling to myself. It might not be the most romantic thing, but at 9 PM on a Friday night, it sounded like a dream. Her car was clean and not at all like mine. She had a really fancy sports car. It baffled me how she could afford it but she said that her grandfather pitched in to help pay for it before he passed. The outside was red with a sleek white stripe down the front. She loved this car like it was her child and I don't blame her.
The interior was tan leather and a small speaker on the dashboard to blast all of her favorite songs. She opened the door for me as I hopped into the passenger seat and reached over, unlocking the driver side door for her. She put on her seatbelt and revved the engine, making the whole car vibrate. It was loud but she was proud. From what I knew, she put all the extra equipment on herself. She put her hand on my thigh and started driving out of the parking lot.
we listened to Taylor Swift the whole ride there, and i hate to admit it, but I would totally marry her with paper rings.
This is all I could have asked for. My girlfriend was happier than I have ever seen her and we were together. She's literally my favorite person in the whole world. She might trade me for a bag of chicken nuggets and an iced coffee but I would do anything for her.
I will always be her biggest cheerleader.
ngl I could write a whole story about these 2... thanks for reading my book, love you guys <3
