omg we're so close to 1k reads!!! im so happy I literally can't even explain it. I couldn't say thank you enough for all the people reading my one shots from a girl who can't seem to get a gf. I love all of you and I just want to say that writing on this is literally the highlight of my day. stay amazing <3

I walked onto the beach with my chair slung over my back and book in hand. My sunglasses turned the sandy beaches and blue sky into a slightly tinted green. My bathing suit was dark green matching my tan skin. It had been ages since my mom allowed me to go down to the beach by myself.

Turning 16 was extremely underwhelming to say the least. the only thing I got was more things to be insecure about. my wish was to have a girlfriend. I was so lonely and my friends were never free to hang out. which, was why I was at the beach alone.

I struggled to open my chair and place it in the sand. I was a bit further from the life guard stand, leaving me at peace from the toddlers throwing sand everywhere. I opened my book and seemed to get lost in the pages for hours. Occasionally, I picked my head up, watching the waves crash against the sand turning it to dark brown.

"Whatcha reading?" A tall blonde-haired girl approached me, standing over me. I put my glasses on the top of my head to look at her. She's gorgeous. Her hair fell just above her shoulders, she had blue eyes that sparked in the sun. Her skin seemed to be golden, her tan was literally perfect. She's everything that would make me insecure, but somehow I didn't feel that way this time.

"oh um-" I stumbled over my words, awestruck by how she looked. her hair was slightly damp with a dark blue bathing suit on. She had a white towel wrapped around her waist. "It's called 'Better Than the Movies'"

"Is it any good?"

"Yeah! I love it so much. Im almost done with it though." I frowned, looking down that the remaining 100 pages left in the book. I had only started it about a week ago.

"mind if I sit next to you?" She asked, taking the towel off of her waist. I looked away, trying not to blush.

"Not at all, feel free." I smiled.

"My name's Alyssa." She put her hand out to me and I shook it.

god, they're soft.

"Adriana."

"are you from here, Adriana?" She asked, echoing my name back to me. The way it rolled off of her tongue sent shivers through my body for no reason what-so-ever.

we talked for probably about an hour, getting to know each other a little more. She lives about 20 minutes out from me which was surprising to say the least

"I have a summer house down here with my mom. She brought me down for a 16th birthday gift." I seemed to be dumping my whole history onto this girl. Although the way she listened with intent made my heart flutter. "How about you?"

"Well, im just renting with my cousins. When did you turn 16?"

"A couple months ago."

"I turned 16 in March. So about 5 months I guess?"

"That's fun." I put the sunglasses back over my eyes, it was probably around 3 with where the sun was.

"Did you put sun screen on?" Alyssa snorted, she was staring at me... her eyes focused on my shoulders.

"No? why?"

"Your shoulders are burning."

I looked down and unfortunately, she was right. "Ugh that's just great. I guess I'll go in the water then or something."

"I'll go with you."

I put my book down and got up from the chair, waiting for Alyssa to get up too. "It better not be cold or I swear to god."

spoiler alert, it was. Well, at first it was cold. I dipped my feet into the water, feeling the sand squish under my feet. I went deeper into the water and a wave splashed up onto my stomach and chest. I screamed at the cold and saw the blonde jump in with a diving style.

"Cmon don't be a baby Adriana!" She splashed some of the water on me, the cold water getting on my chest again. I shivered at the cold but wanted to seem tough around her. She makes me nervous for no reason at all.

"I'm not a baby. I just have sensitive skin." I shook my head, trying not to laugh.

"Sure you do." She ran over to me and pushed me down into the water, I shrieked at the sudden motion of falling but laughed because ultimately it was very funny. She reached her hand out to me but wanting to get back at her, I yanked her down with me.

Her body fell on top of mine, our faces inches apart. I kept laughing, my eyes closed not realizing how close we were. Her hands were on either side of my head as I opened my eyes and stopped laughing. She had a smile across her face, and it made me blush like crazy.

"You have so much sand in your hair."

"I'm sure I do."

Although I was blushing with her on top of me, we didn't move. I looked into her blue eyes through my sunglasses, she was so pretty.

"Has anybody ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?" I blurted out, covering my mouth with my hand. She sat back on my thighs, her actions sending butterflies through my body once again.

she has no clue what she's doing to me and I only met her and hour ago.

"I'm afraid not, but thank you very much." She smiled again, her lips looking so kissable. "is that why you've been staring at me?"

I snapped back into reality, not expecting her to say that. I opened my mouth wanting to say something but nothing came out. I looked down at the water splashing over my legs, trying to avert my gaze.

"eyes are up here Adriana" She laughed, pointing at her eyes.

"Can I please kiss you?" I don't even know why the hell I said that. I wanted to shove my face into the sand and never come up. This was so stupid.

"Sure, why not?" She placed one hand on my cheek and the other on my cheek. I put my hands on the bottom of her neck and pulled her into a kiss, secretly trying to keep myself from throwing up.

what am I doing? What the hell is this? you just met her. this is how people become whores.

our lips danced together as time seemed to slow down. I couldn't even think my body seemed to melt at her touch. Her hands were still so so soft and I no longer felt cold in the freezing water.

god damn it Alyssa... I'm falling in love with you

our lips pulled apart and mine were pulled up into a dorky smile. "Sorry... I don't know where that came from. I hope it didn't turn you away or whatever-- you're really fun to talk to."

"It's not a problem." She got up off of me and helped me get up as we walked back to my chair. I felt so awkward around her. I wish that I could just shrink and hide away forever.

"Sorry again" I sighed, packing up my things.

"Hey," she started, putting her hand on my shoulder. "Call me sometime okay?"

She grabbed one of the annotating pens I brought with me and wrote a phone number on my arm. I blushed and took the pen back.

"I will."

"It was nice meeting you, Adriana." She pecked my cheek and waved goodbye before walking off, leaving me stunned in the sand.

"Y-you too!" I yelled out, waving to her as she walked away. She turned around and blew me a kiss before sitting down at her own chair across the beach. She was alone at the beach too...

I guess I got my wish...
