Darius' POV

My body yearned for the taste of her blood since the moment I saw her in that forest. She looked so delicate and fragile shivering in that snow. She was the very epitome of beauty. She herself didn't know how much my body craved a piece of her soul.

Fighting the urge to not drink her blood as her body radiated the scent of Lilacs was encouraging my vampiric side to watch her bleed in my arms. I have never felt so thirsty in my life for someone's blood. Every ounce of the cells in my body wanted nothing more than to see her doe eyes look at me as I drank her blood hungrily.

Without thinking my canines grew in size as they pierced her milky skin. Her blood tasted so divine yet sweet like sugar. Every drop I drank left me thirsting for more of her.

"Darius..." Her silky voice rang in my ears as I watched her tremble in my arms, looking at me with those teary baby blue eyes. I bit deeper into her skin as she moaned in pleasure and pain.

My head became hazy as the room filled with the scent of her blood, Lilacs in full bloom.

I closed my eyes as a portrait which contained my previous world's memories cleared in front of me. When I drank someone's blood, I could see their past memories. Even if that blood belonged to that of animals or beasts. I bit deeper into her skin unable to resist the temptation as I felt her body go limp beneath me. I held her waist closer to my body, holding her hair back with the other hand. Her body molded in mine as I felt her small and soft body against mine.

Lila had really grown up a lot. I used to have a crush on her when we were younger. However, back then she used to smile and laugh like a sweet child. But now her face seems to have been drained of any sign of joy. What sort of life did my Lila lead? I wanted to know more. I closed my eyes, savoring every drop of her blood. Instances of her life flashed in my mind starting from those that were the most memorable for her. Memories after memories of pain, loneliness and grief created a void in her life. Her memories were bitter in contrast to her sweet blood. My heart clenched as I saw her cry for years, call for help and grieve our deaths alone.

"Darius! Get off her!", yelled a familiar voice.

Someone pulled my hands off of her as the connection severed. I opened my eyes to see Octavius holding me back from my prey. In the distance, I saw an unconscious Lila in the arms of Mason trying to cover the bleeding on her neck.

"What the hell were you thinking?" He asked with anger evident in his voice.

"I'll heal her wound." Mason spoke. Carrying Lila in his arms, he walked out the door.

"What was that? I thought you had control over your thirst." Octavius scolded.

What was I thinking? I really had no idea.

An overwhelming urge to drink her blood spread through my body. I wanted more of her blood, but she passed out when I drank only a tiny amount of her blood. I shook my head trying to become more in control of myself.

Retracting my canines, I looked at Octavius who looked like he could kill me. He still wore his uniform, suggesting that he had just returned home. Orion entered the room with a hand on his hip and settled in front of me on the corner of the bed. "As much as you are my best friend, I need to ask. Why did that happen?".

I wiped the blood on my face with the back of my hand and licked it. "I didn't know that was going to happen." Touching my lips, I remembered the taste of her blood which is now flowing through my body. It made me feel energized like never before.

"What do you mean? You haven't tasted human blood in years. Is that why you pounced on the chance of it?", asked Octavius still close to me, searching my eyes for any predatory movements. "You have never tried to get Mason's, mine or Orion's blood either. So why hers?" I get it. He doesn't trust the vampire side of me, which takes over every now and then.
