Unexpected Love

Chapter 20 (Get Together)

Peter noticed the tension between Emma and Andrew and tried to break the ice.
Peter: "Welcome to New York, guys! Is this your first time here? I won't give a speech to you, Emma. How are you, by the way?"
Noah: "Enough speaking, Peter! Let's discuss our work first. Sit down, everyone."
Andrew and Emma were still looking at each other without saying any words. They sat down, discussed some things, and agreed that Ayşe, Emma, and Ceyda would work at the company while Kerem and Can would work in another branch of the company in a different state. When Ceyda heard that, she got nervous and looked at Can. They were in a relationship and wanted to be together. Kerem also didn't want to go there, so he spoke up.

Kerem: "Excuse me! Can I ask something?"
Peter: "Sure!"
Kerem: "Can Ceyda and I switch our assignments?"
Andrew: "Why?"
Ceyda: "Actually, I was about to say the same thing."
Andrew: "Okay, but why? We were trying to have you girls work together!"
Ceyda: "That's very kind of you, sir, but to be honest, Can and I are in a relationship, and we would prefer to be together, if you don't mind, of course!"
Can: "Mr. Andrew, I know it might be difficult as you have already set everything, but if you could try, it would be kind of you."
Andrew looked at Noah and Peter, then at Emma, who was waiting for his answer.

Andrew: "Okay then! We'll talk to the stakeholders to start your transfer procedures."
Kerem sighed happily while looking at Emma and smiling, so she smiled back at him. Andrew was watching them silently.
Peter: "The meeting has ended, and you can start in two days. You have two days free to explore New York."
Kerem and Ayşe laughed, but Emma remained silent. They asked to leave, and Emma was about to get up too, but Noah stopped her.
Noah: "Emma, can you stay for a bit? You guys can go."
Kerem looked at them questioningly. He had noticed a strange tension between them since the beginning but he didn't understand it.

Ayşe and Kerem left, and Emma sat down again. She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself.
Noah: "How are you, Emma?"
Emma: "I'm fine! And you?"
Noah: "I'm fine too. What about Adam? Is he okay?"
Emma's face fell, but she tried to keep a smile on her face.
Emma: "He's okay, as usual."
Andrew: "Is he still in hiding?"
Emma: "Hmm, yes. He's in a safer place now."
Peter: "Well, that's good. At least you two are safe now."

Emma smiled and nodded. She looked at Andrew, who didn't take his eyes off her. She was so beautiful, just like she used to be, but now she was an adult, not the little girl he used to know. After all these years, she was still so beautiful, even more so than any other woman he had ever seen. Emma got nervous from his gaze on her, but she also couldn't deny how handsome he had become. She missed him, but she couldn't do anything except stare at him.
Andrew: "How have you been, Emma? How's your life going?"
Emma: "I'm fine, and things are going well. What about you?"
Andrew: "I'm doing well too."

Emma looked at his hands, searching for a ring or anything else, but she felt relieved when she didn't find anything. Noah started talking and interrupted her.
Noah: "Don't you want to see your aunt, Emma?"
Emma: "Of course I do, but will she want to see me?"
Andrew looked at Peter and Noah, then back at her, with a questioning expression.
Naoh: "Why doesn't she want, honey? She missed you so much!!"
Emma smiled, and her eyes filled with tears.
Emma: "I missed her so much too!"
Peter: "Let's all go together then! Madlen will come after work too."
Emma felt tense. She wanted to refuse because she knew they were angry with her since that day, but she couldn't resist the look on Noah's face.

Emma: "O...okay!"
They all got up, with Noah and Peter in the lead, and Emma and Andrew following behind. They looked at each other and quickly turned away. Peter was driving, with Andrew sitting next to him, while Emma and Noah sat in the back. Andrew kept watching Emma through the rearview mirror. Peter tried to hide his smile from time to time when Andrew looked at him. They arrived at their destination, and Emma got out of the car. She remembered the first day she came here three years ago and the tension between her and Andrew when he caught her before falling. Emma looked at him and found that he was looking at her too. They were interrupted by Noah calling out to them.
