The police came the next morning and questioned Ted. He told them that they had threatened him, told him to dance or they would kill him. When he danced into the kitchen to make some coffee for them, he saw the rat poison and took his chance. He gave it to them and immediately regretted it.
He'd been coming up with this lie for hours, laying in bed, crying. It was the only way out. The only way for freedom.
When the police decided he was innocent, they asked who the person he wanted to live with was. Audrey. That was his answer. They drove him to her house, and he walked into the guest bedroom, still sniffling.
She was acting different then normal. At first Ted thought she was just sad and pitiful, but the longer they talked the more he realised. She was scared. Scared of him. Does she know? He thought, No, that's impossible...
