When Ted awoke, it was still dark out, and he saw that it was 4:09 am. He stumbled into Audrey's kitchen, still half asleep. His mouth was dry from crying all night, and as the cold water from his cup trickled down his throat, he heard a noise from behind him.
'My parents are going to want to talk to you tommorow,' Audreys voice called from the hallway, 'so if youre planning on finding a tree today you better leave while their still asleep.'
'Ok, I'll leave now. I'm going to get you that tree, even if its the last thing I do.'

He walked outside, shivering as soon as the cold air hit him. He was wearing one of Audrey's jackets, and it was a little to small for him. He adjusted the collar for the tenth time. The sun was rising when he got to the wall, and he could only just see the light shining onto its silver metal surface, blinding him.

The guards were no where to be seen, and this was his chance. He carefully scaled the wall, clinging to bolts and screws that stuck out of the edges, until he reached the top.

He slid his legs over the silver surface, swearing when it cut deep into the flesh on his thigh. He grabbed his socks and wrapped them around the wound, wincing as the salty sweat soaked into it.

He dropped down the other side of the wall, and limped away, watching the sun rise in the distance.
