I didn't do much over the next few days other than rest and try to get better. It was killing me to not be active, because that was normally a huge part of my life, but I knew that I really did need to get healthy before I started pushing myself.
And yes, I also needed to get into shape in order to try moving forward on the baby making aspect of things too.
I'd been terrified about the conversation I needed to have with the girls, but it really wasn't too tough. Bella and Frida had been spending all their time together, usually at the beach, so we had a lot of time to have that talk. It turned out that we needed less than 15 minutes.
"I guess we have 2 things to discuss. Where do we live, and can we make this relationship between us work," I started. "Is there anything else?"
"Nope, that seems to be it." Willow nodded along with Lexie.
"If we can move here, and hang out with all these people, would that be okay with you?" I asked.
"That is what we're hoping for," Willow said with a smile. "It is so amazing to see all of these neighbors enjoying life with each other. Talia and Elise were really happy that we were trying to all be together. I guess they have some experience with poly relationships, but I'm not sure how."
All the women in the neighborhood had been stopping by to check on us, both individually and in pairs. It was summer, and Elise was a teacher, so she was home anyway. Hana and Mira had a travel blog that Willow and Lexie had started raving about and had also written a book. They were taking time to raise their family while the kids were young, but it sounded as though they planned to travel more in the future and would include their kids more too. Since I was sleeping a lot while trying to get better, all of them had a chance to talk to Willow and Lexie, and they'd formed a fast bond.
There were several doctors' offices and emergency clinics in the area, so Lexie and Willow were already job hunting which was part of my other issue.
"Okay, so we stay here. That was easy. But that means we need to get a house, so maybe once I'm better we can start looking," I suggested. While my uncles had two guest rooms, we had Bella in one, and Lexie and Willow in the other at night. I slept on the couch. Because I had to sleep on my right side, and the back of the couch supported me to keep me in that position. The guest room bed also wouldn't fit three, anyway. But during the day, I moved to Lexie and Willow's bed, and leaned my back against a big body pillow that was almost as long as I was. I was feeling a lot better, mostly just stiff, and every day I thanked the fates for putting a great surgeon like Alex in our path. Oh, and that it was only a bunch of birdshot pellets that she had to remove, and not big bullets!
They both shared a look, making me realize there was more to say. "Well, you know Talia is in construction, right?" Willow said with a smile, and I nodded as that had been brought up. She'd done a lot of the renovations up and down the street. "She said that the people at the end of the street, in the big house on the water, have her fixing it up to sell. It hasn't been listed yet, but we could grab that when it was ready. It might be another 3 weeks or so." They were both on their knees next to the bed, since that put them at my level, and it was nice to see them so close these days.
"Seriously? A house on the water? Sign me up!" That sounded perfect. The houses on the water were bigger too, and we'd need the room with 4 of us already and our plan for having kids.
"Now, what about us?" Willow asked.
"I told you that I'd help you make babies, and that holds true. I also love you both, though perhaps not as much as I will when we spend even more time together. When I saw you again after all these years, I realized how much I cared about you. Love you even, though I want that to grow. I want to love you like I did Lessa, even if our relationship is different. I know we can't all legally get married, but if you two get married, and we have a symbolic ceremony for the three of us to pledge ourselves to each other, while I adopt Bella, would that work?"
