Hello. Sorry it's been awhile I don't really know what to right so it probably suck.
Elizabeth's POV
My father's sword hung on my side as Baldwin, Matthew, Godfrey and Hugh carried out my father's casket. Maman hung to my arm and watched it as it came closer. She hadn't cried once since we came home with the news. Me on the other hand probably had permanent streaks of blood down my face.2 days ago
Matthew came into the tent a day after Pere left. He was weak looking he looked as if he had been starved for years instead of a couple days. I looked behind hoping to see Pere he wasn't there. I knew he wasn't going to be but I still got my hopes up.Matthew enters the tent and before he falls Hugh catches him. "I tried I really did I'm sorry Elizabeth." He looks at me his eyes filled with grief and loss. "I know you might be furious but he wanted me to give you something." He pulls out my father's sword and hands it to me. I grab it from his hand gingerly.
I grab my helmet that sat on the side of the tent placed it on my head and walked out Pere's sword in hand. I ran straight through the battlefield slashing every opponent I could see. I made my way to the leaders tent. His guards blocked my way I threw one to my right and the other to my left.
I walked straight though the tent, men swarmed me. "I suggest you call your men off before everyone in this tent dies." I growled. Seconds later then men backed off, "State your name and what you want." The man at the desk says. I rip off my helmet and hear the gasps, "My name is Elizabeth Shephard and I am here to avenge my father by ending this war." I look the man straight in the eyes.
"A child a girl even would like to end a war. How dumb has this world become." He laughs.
"The only thing that you should be laughing about is the fact that the general doesn't fight."
I lifted my sword to his neck "By the way I can get my superiors here and we can sign peace on this or I can just kill you right now. I added a tiny bit of pressure with my sword."Call your "superiors" then." He pushes the sword from his neck. "Coward can't even fight to protect himself." I laugh at him. I "borrow" one of their messengers and send word to Matthew. They arrive 20 minutes later.
They both sign the peace treaty and the war is then called off.Back to present time
The casket finally reaches us and then just then does Maman break down. Ysabeau comforts her and Godfrey hugs me to his chest. Phillipe talks about his position of the Knights of Lazarus's. Matthew talks about him being his best friend and his sacrifice. Maman goes up and talks about the mates their undying love and me. Then finally my turn.I stand in front of the crowd and take a deep breath. "My father was a brave kind man. He raised me with Maman's help of course t be the person I am today he taught me to be adept with a sword, never to give up and to always have faith even when it's close to impossible. Today we see him fully dead. But I will not let his sacrifice change what he made me to be be even with his death I have become a better person so I thank you Pere for raising the best version of me. I love you."
I place a rose on the casket and walk away. Matthew's hand touches my shoulder giving a considerate squeeze and walks away. I walk out of the funeral and sit at the edge of the forest. "I'm sorry for your loss." A voice says behind me, I turn to see Phillipe, "Well that's what happens in war right?" I lower my head.
He places his hand on my shoulder and sits down, "I heard you called off the war, very impressive for your first. I have an offer for you," I look at him and he continues to speak, "A spot has opened up in the Knights of Lazarus I was hoping you would take the spot.
I am rendered speechless. He wants me to take Pere's spot. Yes he does will you take it? Should I? I would you are me. So take it. "I will take you up on that offer." He stretches his hand and I shake it. He leaves me in peace once more.
As I think the worse it feels, I sit alive and well where right now Pere is in in the next place. You tried to tell him no.
Yeah but did I do anything to make him stop. Yes you almost ripped off Godfrey's head. I guess that wasn't enough. Look he would have wanted you to move on and become stronger but you sit here moping in your sorrows. Who are you to question whether or not he wanted me to mope or move on. I'm your better conscious you should listen to me.
(The font above is her arguing with herself I do if all the time so I decided to add it to her character and no she wasn't a daemon in her mortal life.)
I got up and went into the château, people offered there condolences but I didn't care I went up to my room and for over the 100th time I cried and then I cried it felt like the only emotion I had left. "Do you want to know what he used to tell me?" Matthew stood in the doorway. "What?" I asked wiping the blood off my cheeks.
"He said to me that if we keep mourning our losses we can never meet something new."
"That sounds like something he would say." I smiled for the first time in 5 days. "Trust me he would say it a lot especially in war." I nod and Matthew gives me a half hug and walks out. I sighed and decided that I may hurt now but I'm not broken forever.
Hey this one was tough to right but she did it and hey maybe take Bertrand's advice you can still mourn your loss but don't be afraid to make new. Anyways I think I'll start the actual book now I really do not want to right every detail In a millennium sooo see ya.
