"we don't want people to just run away, we want people to come back " -anonymousSlamming the door shut, I went straight to my room and opened my closet. I grabbed the nearest duffel bag I could reach for and filled it with enough clothes for my journey and some toiletries. After that, I went straight to the kitchen to grab a can of coke and reached for my phone, shades and keys on the counter. I, then, went dashing out the door and away from this silent penthouse.
When I came out of the elevator, my doorman, Freddy, approached me.
"Madam, going somewhere?" He asked curiously.
"Yep, going out for a bit. If anyone comes looking for me, tell them I'm out and to no bother wait up." I replied.
I walked straight out of the door towards my car. Putting the car in reverse, I zoomed out of the parking lot as I put the roof down and pulled my shades on. I blasted the music in the air as I went zooming out of the city and out of this shitty life.
Savouring the wind dancing on my face, I lost myself to the rhythm of the music booming from the speakers. I was singing at the top of my lungs when the lights turned red. Pushing my shades up, a sudden sound caught my attention. I reached over the glove compartment of the car for my phone, the caller ID was someone I didn't expect to find out I was gone that soon.
"Hi daddy." I said in the most innocent way.
"What in the world do you think you're doing?" My dad's voice boomed out from the phone. Can't blame him though for being that mad at me for running away.
"I need time..." I stalled, looking for a plausible excuse.
"You need time for what, Bettina?!" Woah, he usually doesn't call me Bettina unless I was in some serious mess. But then again....
"Answer me, Bettina!"
"Well, I need time to pull my shit together!" I snapped at him.
"What are you talking ab-" I stopped him mid sentence before it's too late.
"Dad, I need time alone okay? I promise to be back. Not now, not tomorrow but someday... gotta go, bye!" And with that, I bid him the sweetest goodbye I could muster.
"What? Where are you going Bett.." I pressed the end button and turned my phone off as I dumped it to the seat next to me.
I put my shades on as the lights turned green and accelerated away.
