--TINA--
Sitting on the sand, I watched the strong waves of the beach. I closed the book I was reading and stood up to stretch and shake off the sand. I reached over my back pocket to retrieve my handkerchief but it wasn't there. Maybe I left it at the car.
The sun was starting to set but it was still 4:30 in the afternoon. More people set up tents for an overnight party. I wanted to join but I felt like sleeping under the covers of a hotel room. I started to pack my things up and dumped them at the backseat of the car.
I fetch my phone from my pocket and turned it on. There were several mails, calls and texts from my family, friends and fiancé ... fiancé... as if on cue, his caller ID flashed across my screen and I answered it.
"Oh my... thank God. Love, are you there? Love? " Ike's worried voice filled my ear.
"Hello, Ike." I said in a small voice.
"Tina love, where are you? Are you okay? We've been calling you for hours." He said.
"I'm perfectly fine love, I just need to freshen up. I've been stressed lately, I really, really need this love." I explained.
"Tina, is this about the wedding?" Ike asked seriously. There was a long pause before I could find my voice to speak.
"Yes... but look, it's not like that it's uhh.." I stopped and sat at the hood of my car.
"But may I ask... don't you still love me?" Ike's desperation was obvious from his voice.
"Wait, what? No, no, no love. I love you it's just..." I paused 'cause I didn't know the answer as well.
"Well then, come home love. I miss you. I need you." His voice clouded with anxiety.
"Look love, just give me time okay?" I pleaded him, hoping that he'll understand.
"Is there someone other than me? Is that it?" The sudden accusation made me furious but I need to keep my calm.
"No love... it's just... you don't understand.." I kicked the sand under my feet.
"Yes, I kinda don't. Come home and tell me." He persuaded.
"You know what? I can't have this conversation with you. I need to relax, gotta go Ike.." I was about to hit end when i heard him.
"Wait! Wait! Wait! I'm sorry love. Just promise me that you'll be back in my arms, promise me." Suddenly, I felt sorry to leave him behind but I had my reasons.
"Someday Ike, I love you." I ended the call before it got any worse.
I turned my phone off before he calls me again. I sat behind the steering wheel. I started to bang my head on the wheel. Then I remembered why I did left in the first place. I turned the keys and drove away from the beach.
I passed by different stores and restaurants but still couldn't find a hotel I could stay in. But then I suddenly felt thirsty and parked by on the only convenience store I could find. I made my way to where the sodas were located. I passed by the newspaper stand and grabbed one. All that was on the headlines were the names of senators running for presidency. I returned the paper and paid for the soda and returned to my car.
I was driving around a few blocks when a guy was on the round blocking, the only way I could go. He then jumped over the low door of my car and seated right next to me.
"What the hell do you think you're-" my sudden outburst was stopped.
"Just drive. GO ! GO! GO! GO!" He screamed at me.
Without asking why, I stepped on the gas and focused on driving as I was shocked to the core by what the hell just happened.
