Un Dolce Momento

Prologue

"Girls, are you done yet? We gotta go." Leila's mom knocked on the girl's door.

Leila woke up abruptly checking for the time, they were late.

She rushed to wake Summer who was a very heavy sleeper. Both girls rushed to get ready and pack their bags before saying one last goodbye to their beloved balcony which they had spent the past three nights gossiping on. They opened the window and stepped outside. It was the most gorgeous view ever. The eternal city of Rome was truly one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Leila and Summer had both turned 16 this year and what they wanted more than anything was to celebrate together. Their families booked a debutante European cruise. Which meant they would spend 7 days on a ship with other girls who were also celebrating their 16th birthdays. Today was departure day, and although their ship would be leaving at 8 pm, they wanted to get there early. Their plans were ruined by their sleepless night, the excitement kept them both up very late. Both girls were brunette, with brown eyes, although looked very different. Leila was tall and had curly hair which was almost always in a pony. She was always ready to play basketball and always wore her gold ring. Summer on the other hand was average height and had loose, messy, wavy hair, and she always had bracelets on her wrists and documented everything whether in her journal, or her vlog camera.

Author's Note: Hi! I'm so excited to finally begin posting this, as I just finished writing the last chapter. This is a short story I wrote about my best friend and I, on a cruise we were supposed to go on, but sadly weren't able to. At first, it began as a funny joke. But it became one of our favorite pastimes. She helped me come up with half of the writing. We tried to make everything a silly romantic comedy, but include some serious topics and some mature (18+) scenes so keep that in mind while reading. Keep in mind, English is not my first language. I also wanted to let you know that we did absolutely no proofreading so please ignore any errors. Btw all characters and scenes are completely fake and never happened or were based on anyone.
