Neymar Jr POV

"Hey, Ney!" Leo jogged up behind me, clapping a little rhythm on my back. I laughed at his excitement.

"Well, hello Leo." I chuckled, giving him a side hug.

"Ugh, I'm so tired... I didn't even want to wake up. And now I have to do training for, like, 5 hours," he complained, his groans of annoyance filling the air.

"Stop whining," I grinned, earning a glare from him.

"Stop whining about me whining." He retorted, continuing to glare.

"Stop whining about me whining about you whining."

"Stop whining about me whining about you whining about me whining."

"Stop whining about me whining about you whining about me whining about you whining."

"Stop whining about me whining about you whining about me whining about you whining about me whining."

"What?"

I burst out into laughter at Leo's utter confusion. He kept walking, with the traces of a smile still etched on his lips. I couldn't help but feel he wanted to smile, but he wasn't allowing himself to. Why? Why was he being weird.

Eh. Maybe I was just overreacting. I mean... who even notices things like that? Only idiots like me! Ah, well.

"So... Leo. Are you sick?" I asked, casually.

"What the— why?" He paused to look at me. His eyes were blank.

"I don't know... you sound nasal. Like you had a cold." I shrugged.

"Well, maybe it was because you collapsed on the road a week ago and I, being the idiot I was, sat in the WET and COLD rain for a whole night without even sleeping," he rolled his eyes. "That's why."

I couldn't help but blush sheepishly in spite of myself.

"Sorry... I mean it was your choice!" I said defiantly, crossing my arms as I walked towards the Camp Nou stadium. "I didn't make you."

"Well... I would probably die of guilt if I left you on the street in the rain," he countered, tilting his head a little. That was strange.

I don't know why, his movements felt a bit — restrained — I thought. Like he was trying to stop himself from doing something, like he wasn't trusting his instincts. Ah, well. Overreacting again, oh silly me.

"Yeah, yeah..." I zoned out. Trying to focus just on the plastic soles of my studs tap-tapping against the pavement, I hummed a little tune in my head, a tune I had heard Leo humming before.

All of a sudden, the cheerful melody didn't seem as cheerful anymore as Leo started to join in. I stopped abruptly, earning a confused look from Leo, however he kept humming. Those same bars of music again and again, haunting me. It rang in my ears, the quiet whistling of a tuneful song. I bit my lip.

Finally we were at Camp Nou, and I set my bag down on the grass with a sigh of pleasure. Finally.  I gave a little whoop of joy, and took off my hoodie due to the heat of the day. I checked my watch - 09:30 AM.

I looked over to see Leo blushing, gazing down at his phone.

"Whatcha looking at?" I asked him with a grin. He showed me his phone, still smiling broadly.
