If 180 million people want to be undead, that's their funeral, but I happen to like being alive.
E. E. Cummings

The group of survivors led Violet to a safe house on the outskirts of the city. It was a small, abandoned house, but it had been fortified with boards and barbed wire. They entered the house, and the group showed Violet around.
There were several rooms, including a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom. The group had made beds out of blankets and pillows, and they had gathered supplies like food and water. It was a temporary shelter, but it was better than being out on the streets.
As they settled in, they heard a loud banging on the door. They all froze, unsure of what to do. Then, they heard a voice calling out for help. The group cautiously approached the door and looked through the peephole.
It was a woman, her face was pale, and her clothes were torn. She looked like one of the zombies, but she was calling out for help. The group was hesitant, but one of them, a man named Jack, decided to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, the woman lunged at Jack, biting him on the arm. The group quickly pulled her off, but it was too late. Jack had been infected, and he was slowly turning into a zombie.
The group didn't know what to do. They had seen the horrors of the outbreak, but they had never been so close to it. They tried to help Jack, but he was beyond help. He started to convulse, and his eyes turned red.
Violet felt sick to her stomach. She had never seen anyone turn into a zombie before, and it was a horrifying sight. The group decided that they had to kill Jack before he turned completely.
One of the members handed Violet a bat, and she reluctantly approached Jack. She closed her eyes and swung the bat, hitting him in the head. He fell to the ground, and the group watched as his body stopped moving.
The group was silent, mourning the loss of their friend. Violet felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She didn't know Jack for very long, but he had been kind to her. She couldn't believe that he was gone.
The group buried Jack in the backyard of the safe house, saying a few words for him. They all knew that they had to be more careful from now on. The outbreak was real, and they had to be prepared for anything.
As they went back inside, Violet couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. She didn't know what it was, but she felt like something was out there, waiting for them. She didn't know how long they could survive in this new world, but she was determined to try.
