It had occurred to him that if the undead don't realize that they are dead, he might easily be one of them himself.

After their close call on the supply run, the group decided that they needed a more secure place to stay. They had been moving from house to house, but they needed a permanent location to call their own.

They found an abandoned office building in the heart of the city. It was a tall, concrete building with no windows on the first floor, making it difficult for the zombies to get in.

The group cleared out the zombies that had already made their way inside and set up their new home. They created a barricade at the entrance, using furniture and anything else they could find.

The building had plenty of space for everyone, and they quickly got to work setting up their sleeping quarters and a common area. They even managed to find some old board games and a deck of cards to keep themselves entertained.

Violet was happy to have a more secure place to stay, but she couldn't shake the feeling of dread that hung over them. They were safe for now, but they knew that the zombies would eventually find them.

They decided to take turns standing guard at the entrance, keeping watch for any signs of danger. Violet took the first shift, sitting at the entrance with Lucky by her side.

It was quiet at first, but as the night went on, she began to hear faint scratching sounds coming from outside. She knew that it was only a matter of time before the zombies found them.

She woke up the others, and they all gathered at the entrance, ready to defend their new home. The zombies were getting closer, and they could hear them pounding on the walls.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion. The group was thrown off their feet, and debris rained down on them. When they looked up, they saw that the barricade had been destroyed.

The zombies were pouring into the building, and the group was outnumbered. They fought back as best they could, but they were quickly overwhelmed.

Violet watched in horror as one by one, her friends were bitten and turned into zombies themselves. She knew that there was no hope for them now.

She made a run for it, grabbing Lucky and running towards the stairwell. She could hear the zombies chasing her, but she didn't look back.

She made it to the top floor, where there was a rooftop access. She opened the door and stepped out into the cool night air.

She could see the city below her, filled with zombies. She knew that she was alone now, with no one to rely on but herself.

She took a deep breath and looked down at Lucky. He was the only thing she had left, and she knew that she had to keep him safe. She would do whatever it takes to survive this horror.
