Nobody really knew what to do; Freddie felt hurt after Elton had shouted at him and John was still getting over Keith's antics.

Everyone else meanwhile had heard every word of the drama, but didn't want to get involved; it just wasn't their place to. And anyway, Bernie had already taken over. It also didn't help that they were two men down - David and Mick had disappeared while the argument was still going on.

"Do you think Elton's going to be alright?" Ringo asked Paul. "He seemed pretty upset."

"Yes." The bassist said. "If Bernie's going up to him, he'll make him feel better. I'm sure of it."

Speak of the not so devilish devil, Bernie had slowly trudged upstairs and was stood outside Elton's room. He lingered there for a moment, knocking on the door hesitantly.

"Go away!"

"Elton please, it's only me." Bernie said. "Besides, we need to have a look at that hand of yours. You cut it pretty badly on that glass."

"Alright, come in." Elton mumbled from behind the door.

His friend gently opened the door, not bothering to shut it properly because they'd be leaving anyway. He sat on the bed next to Elton, who was laid there crying tears of rage.

"Hey, it's okay." Bernie said. "Keith's gone, everyone's downstairs, everything's okay now. They're all waiting for you."

"Well I'm not waiting for them."

"You must!" Bernie insisted. "It's your birthday we're celebrating, not any of theirs."

"Well maybe I don't want to celebrate it anymore." Elton said firmly, clenching the fist of his bleeding hand. "Ouch!"

"I think we should have a look at that, don't you?"

Elton sighed. "Yeah."

Bernie took Elton's hand, the one that wasn't bleeding, and led him into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. He locked it before sitting his friend down and examining his injury.

"That doesn't look too bad, actually." He said. "Can you move it?"

"Yes, I just can't touch it."

"Okay, that's better than I thought." Bernie said. "I'll just wrap it up and then you're good to go."

"No I won't be." Elton said. "I'm staying right here."

"Why, love?"

Both of them stopped at that. Bernie had never called Elton love before, but if he was honest, the singer kind of liked it.

"I got snappy at them all." He said. "Freddie probably isn't happy that I shouted at him."

"They all heard everything." Bernie reassured him. "They'll understand. Plus, you can apologise to him."

"I suppose."

"My one question is why you got upset in the first place." Bernie said. "I know it seems pretty obvious, but it might make you feel better."

"I suppose it's because he'd not been invited for one thing. And the fact John was acting so pally with him." Elton sighed. "I was just being a spoilt brat I suppose, I didn't like the attention being taken off me."

"Anyone would feel that way on their birthday if I'm being honest." His friend said. "It's really about how you act on it."

"That makes sense." Elton said. "But do you know what really got to me?"

"What?"

"Everything was going so well." His voice wavered and a tear slipped down his cheek. "I wanted everything to be prefect and then...my perfect vision was ruined!"
