2. Mission🗡

*Shinobu's POV🦋*

It's been a long time since me and Tomioka have been assigned a mission together.
But here we are after a few months.
Master called for us and is assigning us a special mission.
Basically we have to head to a forest because there are a few demons who killed a lot of members these days, from what I remember it's something like a "spider family".
Disgusting.
But something picked my interest today.
Master told us that we have to bring here a certain pair of siblings. A strange one I must say.
A demon and a demon slayer.
Now, the information may sound surprising to anyone but my attention is focused on Tomioka, because as soon as master gave us this information, she seems rather nervous.
She knows something that I don't. Is she keeping things from me? Why? She should tell me everything that's been bothering her.
I'm rather curious to see what she's hiding, and that pair of siblings will definitely answer my question.
As for Tomioka, I'm happy enough to go on a mission with her.
Among all of us hashira, she's calm and patient and does her job well without making a mistake.
Also, every time i get to spend with her is precious to me and I have to cherish it well.

-"Tomioka-san~" I approach her and I poke her shoulder in an affectionate way.
It's so fun to tease her, she tries to hide her blush but she fails everytime.
-"Kocho...what are you doing?" she asks giving me a soft glare.
-"My~ Are you nervous for our mission? I must say I am too! But is there something bothering you about that pair of siblings?" I ask looking straight into her eyes to catch her.
-"Not really. Don't assume things." she says, pissed.
Such a cute girl shouldn't be lying. Her eyes say it all.
-"Are you keeping things from me again, Tomioka-san~?- I ask her as I poke her again.
She doesn't say anything, she just sighs and turns her head away.
Ignoring me again, huh?
-"Well, I'm not forcing you to say anything, but..." I say, getting closer to her and lifting her chin so her eyes meet mine.
-"I'm going to discover it anyways, but let's see what naughty things you're hiding this time, Tomioka-san"  I say giving her a smile.
She's the only one who can understand this look in my eyes, and seeing her tremble amuses me in a certain way.
She shakes her head and tries to look away.
Once you're mine, I'm not allowing you to look away from me.
I just let it slide this time, I pat her shoulder and take my hand off giving her my usual smile.
She doesn't say anything as usual, after giving me a glare she looks away.

It's night, me and Tomioka are heading to this forest.
Luckily we both know the way, since it's not the first time we came here.
The first time we came here it's when I realized my feelings for Tomioka. It was a bright moon like now, and it just...happened. She was standing in front of me, her eyes looking at the moon as a gentle breeze moved around her hair. She had the prettiest look on her face, and she seemed like an angel to me. That's when my heart beated so fast that my chest started to hurt. That's when I realized I liked her, when I had to control myself because I felt the need to kiss her.
Shaking away my thoughts, we finally reach the forest.
It doesn't look that scary, but I make sure I'm walking in front of Tomioka, to protect her.
She doesn't seem to mind, or maybe she doesn't even understand why i'm walking in front of her but either way is fine as long as nothing happens to her.
As we continue walking, a terrifying sight surprises us. Tomioka gasps loudly and her hand covers her mouth in surprise. I feel nauseous.
A few members are tied on some wires, their heads snapped or turned around completely, their bodies are dismembered: probably the wires cut them. A few members are on the ground, or at least, some pieces. Heads, arms, legs. They're all dead.
One of them is alive and tries to warn us about something, but as soon as her stuttering stops and finally is able to talk, the wires tightens around her neck and snap her head.
I take a look at Tomioka and I see her completely terrified but also shows an angry look.
I pat her shoulder to comfort her.
-"Are you okay?" I ask.
She nods and looks at me.
-"We should separate." She says.
My eyes widen and my veins almost pop out.
-"No! You're remaining here with me! There are more than one demon, and  being separate will only increase the risk of one of us dying." I say.
You're not going anywhere Tomioka, I'm not loosing you.
-"I can take care of myself Kocho, and you can too maybe even more than me. I can sense some demon slayers that are still alive so I need to go to them before it's too late. We'll reunite soon, it's okay." She says.
I'm still not convinced but I can't prioritize my will to protect her to some innocent lifes.
Sure, Tomioka may be naive but she's still one of the strongest hashira and had more years of experience than me. I have to let her go this time and try my best to reach to her as soon as possible.
-"Okay, but don't injure yourself. I have a lot of people to heal and I don't need another one." I say.
Of course I'm lying, my priority will always be healing Tomioka first. She just doesn't know it yet.
She nods and waves at me, before heading off.
I remain alone, looking around to decide where to head off.
I suddenly sense the presence of a demon, so I head off too.
