"You wanted to go!" Maegor's hoarse voice shouted into her, "Back to the capital and your kid, and back to Erryk!"
"Erryk is my husband." Davina reminded him.
"He wasnt always. I had you first." Maegor demanded. "Yet you chose him?"
"I didnt wanted Erryk back then!" Davina corrected. "Not then I wanted you to tell me you wanted me but you didnt, you chose another whore and ran off, if you said you were going to stay- but no you dont stick around long Maegor. Thats your problem. Erryk is stability and I do love Erryk."
"You should have said something then!"
"I didnt want to have to say something!" Davina spat back. "I wanted you to look at me and just know!"
"Thats asking a lot!" Maegor countered loudly.
"I fucking know! Yet... yet I hoped you would see it in my eyes." Davina's temper fading and growing with every heart beat. "I didnt want him then, not like I wanted you but I'm glad I have him because he is twice the man you will ever be! I dont care about you Maegor!" They both knew it was a lie.
Pure frustration filled her like a shot of adrenaline and she trembled at the sudden eerie calm in Maegor's eyes.
"Don't lie to me, Davina." His hand met the wall behind her, body leaning into her space as his gaze never left hers. "I saw you in pentos. You came to check on me, you wanted me okay, you wouldnt have done that-"
"I came for mother. Not you." Davina corrected.
"People don't react like that for someone they don't care about." Maegor corrected her.
Her breath hitched, and something inexplicable filled her eyes. They swelled with tears, wide and almost frightened. Maegor felt his own anger die.
"Dav?"
She squeezed her eyes shut, opened them with a shaky breath and met his gaze.
"You are my brother, I didnt want you dead." she whisper her admittance, brought a small smile to his face. "I thought you were going to... We didn't know how bad it was... if the people were exaggerating or if you were on deaths door." Her voice wavered, her hands gripping the edge of the bench behind her.
Davina held to that bench like a lifeline, wanting to run, away from his eyes and the part bursting inside of her that just wanted him to know she loved him.
"I do love you Maegor, but I also hate you."
Maegor felt it again, her crashing into him as she shoved him back needing to not be so confined by him.
"I'm sorry," his words caught, "You didnt deserve the hell I put you through while I was gone." Maegor admitted. "I was mad I couldnt have you and... took it out on... on me I guess." Maegor admitted. "I... you choosing him over me-"
"You didnt ask me." Davina mumbled under her breath. "Not really, not the right way."
"I should have gotten down on one knee and begged you to love me forever that I would do my best to be the best man for you but I didnt." Maegor remarked.
There was fire building behind teary eyes, her pulse a rapid thud in her ears.
"I fell apart, Maegor, because of you."
"Dav-" maegor began but she shoved him into the lake behind them. She waited until he popped up from his splash spitting up water around him.
"You left me." Davina declared. " And now that you are sober and awake I need you to hear me when I say you left and it hurt."
"Davina!"
"Don't," Davina snapped. She jerked like his sharp tone had struck her.
"Don't what?" Maegor whispered. He had been trying and now she had given up on him completely was that it? But was he trying? No he was giving up too. To much time had passed, they had fucked up too much, he had fucked up too much to turn back now.
Don't make me face the fact that you broke your promise. Don't make me face that you lied and said you loved me when you can't love anyone but yourself. Davina thought bitterly. Don't make me admit how scared I am that you don't want me anymore that you never did, really really never did because all you do is lie. Don't make me ask you why you were not happy here with me. Why I was not enough. Why you need another wife when I was here and could have been yours. Why I was never enough for you when I would have loved you til the end if you only treated me right. Davina pursed her lips. Words she would never say aloud.
"Just... don't." Davina whispered turning away from Maegor.
