Richard wasn't scared of much in this world. He didn't fear pain or violence, nor any person or authority. Not even death.
But the feeling he got inside when he was with her?
Now that? That fucking terrified him.It was as if his cold black heart was secured tightly with steel chains and padlocks. He let no one near, no one inside. Richard learnt he had to protect himself.
Yet somehow, she managed to break every single chain, pick every single lock. How on earth could this doe-eyed girl manage to destroy the impenetrable fortress he built around his own heart. Richard felt weak, he felt vulnerable. Like any second she could reach in and rip his heart straight out of his chest, hers for the taking.
But it didn't matter. He would let her.
Of all the companions the universe could have sent him, he was forever grateful that it was her.
Just looking at the girl soothed his broken soul.
Richard noticed every single quirk, every single mannerism - and he adored them all. He loved the way she would play with her rings when she got nervous, or how she would scrunch her nose up if she concentrated hard enough. Or even how she would bite her lip to hold back a smile.
When he was around her, he felt as though he was falling. Falling down a long, dark rabbit hole - unsure if will ever find his way back out. He didn't know what this meant or why he felt this way.
And it petrified him.In the back of his mind, Richard knew it was only a matter of time before he would end up hurting her - some way or another. It's not that he wanted to, but he's Richard Ramirez. It was bound to happen, because there's no way Richard could have anything good in his life. And even if he find a single ounce of happiness in his shitty existence, he always managed to fuck it up.
She was a pure soul, with innocent eyes and a beautiful mind. She radiates happiness. Glowed with beauty.
Richard felt he paled in comparison. She was like lightning in a bottle. There's no way he couldn't let her go now that he had her.
