Pancakes | Chapter 31

****Recap****

"Alright, lets go eat pizza!" I said as I entered the kitchen once again. I immediately looked at Caspar and it looked like his face was paralyzed as if contemplating the meaning of life... I don't blame him though.. what is the meaning of life? I mean, according to google it says 'the existence of an individual' but is that really what it is? I mean... oh right, the plot of the story, okay right so Caspar looks paralyzed, moving on.

"Um, sorry if this seems rude, but can i come?" Caspar asked.

Joe and I shared a look and without hesitating we respond with a 'nah' and headed outside.

"This should be fun," Joe said as we headed towards his car.

"Oh no, it will be fun.." I said whilst smiling.

Maddie's POV

Joe, being the gentlemen that he is, opened the car door for me and waited as I slid in before closing it. He then walked to the drivers side of the car and got in. 

"You really want pizza for breakfast?" He asked. 

"Not really, let's just take a picture of a nearby pizza hut and send it to Caspar as punishment for not making us any pancakes. Then we'll go to a proper breakfast restaurant. I was so excited to eat pancakes this morning," I answered. 

"Good idea. While we're at it, how about we make this our first date?" Joe questioned, romantically. 

"I'd be honoured," I said as I turned my head towards him, giving him a loving and appreciating look. "What restaurant do you have in mind?" I continued.

"It'll be a surprise," he answered with a grin.

I smiled to myself. I cannot believe that Joe Sugg... JOE SUGG... is taking me on a date, a romantic date. Throughout the ride, I was as happy as a little kid opening their christmas presents. I made my best to make sure I take in this very moment. Everything just seemed so right.

We made it to pizza hut and I made sure to get a clear picture and send it to Caspar to tease him a little. 

Caspar: I want pizza :(

Maddie: Should've made us some pancakes, pizza boyy

After about 10 minutes, the car stopped at a lovely traditional pancake and waffle house. Joe and I got out of the car and headed towards the restaurant. On our way there, Joe reached out for my hand, interlocking our fingers. I kept stealing glances at him, I just couldn't get enough. 

Joe and I entered and took a seat at one of the tables; facing each other. The waiter took our orders and we continued to wait. 

Joe, once again, reached for my hands across the table and kissed them before commenting, "I can't tell you how much I've wanted this to happen... to go on a proper date with you." 

"Me too, Sugg" I replied with a goofy grin on my face. 

"Ever since I saw you on that plane, I just knew you were different. I remember, I was walking down the airplane aisle when I saw you and I was hoping and praying to god that my seat would be the seat next to yours. I was too caught up thinking and staring at you that I tripped on some luggage. Maddie, I literally fell for you" Joe reminisced while laughing as he got to the end. 

" Yeah, I remember," I answered while also laughing. The moment just felt so honest and genuine so I chipped in with some of my feelings. "Honestly Joe, you make me feel safe. Whenever I'm around you, I know that I'm in good hands. I'm so thankful to have you in my life, Joe." I stared into his eyes as he stared into mine, still holding hands across the table. 

"I'm thankful to have you in mine, Madds," Joe said genuinely.

Joe's POV

I'm so thankful to have you in my life... this rings a bell... where have I heard this before? 

I kept thinking about where I have heard that line before, until it hit me. Maddie's diary. The words from her diary all suddenly came back to me and made me a bit angry. I wonder if she'll ever trust me enough with her past. I wonder if I should tell her that I read her work.

Before we knew it, the waited came with our order; two nutella pancakes. 

"Looks delicious," I commented. Maddie agreed before diving in to her pancakes. 

We finished our dishes, I paid the bill, and we headed towards the car. 

Once inside the car, I looked at Maddie and we both shared a moment of silence as we stared into each others eyes, each getting lost in the others. Slowly, I started leaning in towards her. As I got closer, I closed my eyes, and our lips touched. It was a smooth, loving kiss. My hands were on her hair and face while she was gently tugging at my hair. After the kiss, I lean my head back a little, to get a full view of her perfect face. I acknowledge all the love I have for this creature, a beautiful human that I now get to call mine. 

I start the car and head towards a lake I discovered a couple months ago. I have a feeling Maddie will love it and I really don't want the date to end. 

"Where are we going? This isn't the usual way home.." Maddie asked, clearly concerned. 

"Sit back and enjoy the view, babe," I reply nonchalantly. I'm just excited to take her to one of my favourite places. 

I notice Maddie's hand on her lap and I interlock my fingers with hers during the car ride. Her hands lock with mine so perfectly, like they were made just for me. But bear this in mind it was meant to be.

We stop at one of the parking spots available near the lake and we both get out, Maddie still confused as to where we are. 

"Is that a lake!?" Maddie asked, clearly excited. 

"Yup, just for us," The lake is well hidden and so, its almost always empty. "This is my favourite spot, I found it a couple months ago and basically, it's where I come if I ever wanna clear my mind. I knew you'd love it." 

"It's like you know me so well, Sugg."

We reach the lake and sit near the edge. We both exchanged happy memories from our pasts and talked about our favourite music and books until I came up with an idea. 

"Wanna go for a swim? The water's pretty clean." I suggested. Maddie hesitated. So i added, "it's an adventure! Aren't you the one that loves adventures?"

"True," she replied, agreeing to my suggestion. 

I got up and puller Maddie up with me. "Let's go!"

"What about our clothes, they'll get wet and we won't be able to get in the car without ruining it..." Maddie stated. 

"Well... we could always go in without any clothes?" I suggested, nervous at the idea.
