Chapter 4
Serendipity
You sat in your bed looking over a few books that you had found in your mothers room. Currently the one you were reading was about 'Monster Types', it went over different types of monsters varying from harmless ones known as 'pacifist' to boss monsters known for their immediate encounters.
As you flipped through pages reading a few lines, sometimes looking at the pictures you started to think to yourself, ' What kind of monster am I? Am I even a monster ?', you continued to look through the pages of the thick book constantly looking at the pictures of various monsters but none of them looked like you which grew your curiosity until a knock at your door distracted you, "My child I've brought you some lunch!" Toriel announced holding a plate of two nicely cut ham and turkey sandwiches with a glass of water, looking away from your book you accepted the meal, "Oh I see you've taken a liking to the books?" Toriel asked, sitting on the edge of your bed, nodding your head as you took a bite of the soft sandwich, enjoying the flavors mixed together as you took another bite. Sipping on the water the main question in your head came into view, You looked at Toriel who was flipping through another one of the books, "Mother, what kind of monster am I?" You asked, Toriel let out a soft 'oh' clear she wasn't expecting a question like that out of the blue, "By, whatever do you mean my dear?" she asked, giving you a curious look, "I mean..My people sent me down here because I was supposed to fulfill a forgotten prophecy. That being all the monsters being kept down here for all eternity by me but..Why would I do such a thing when you guys have done nothing wrong to my people? Did me being a descendant of a fallen god give them free reign to just throw me to the curve?" You asked, becoming more stressed at the amount of questions you have for yourself. Toriel stood up from your bed as she made her way over in front of you, "My child. You are a beautiful unique being, born from a god. You are no monster, you are a demigoddess, a divine spark, a child of the light from the universes above. I believe your people sent you here to grow into their image as someone who will keep us at bay for all eternity." She explained while holding your hands in her paws, It all made sense! You were right to place the runes on the kingdom! To have Amatheon beheaded soon! Your people saw you as nothing but a meat shield, a growing magical being to protect them from their horrible actions.

Taking in the newly given thought you felt somewhat, nothing, like a part of you knew this already. With a soft sigh you nodded in understanding, "Thank you mother." You said looking Toriel in the eyes, she smiled and gestured for you to follow her out your room, "Come my dear I have another book I'd like to show you!" She smiled, You followed her past the doorway and through the hall until you caught sight of the descending staircase, curiosity spiked again, just what could be down that dark staircase? Unknowingly you were staring at the staircase for so long you forgot you were supposed to follow Toriel, "My child? Are you coming?" she called out, tearing your gaze away from the beckoning staircase you walked into the living room. There sat Toriel in her comfort chair with a thin book in hand, "Ah there you are! Is everything alright?" She asked, lowering her book. You nodded and took your seat in front of her near the fireplace. Patiently you watched her flip through pages in her book before she came to a stop, "You know, this might come to a surprise to you but. I've always wanted to be a teacher!" she said, "You thought about the idea for a moment, "I think you'd make a wonderful teacher mother!" You claimed with a smile, Toriel beamed with joy and began explaining various things from her book as if she were teaching a class.
