Her heart was thumping in her chest as she tried to find a shelter from the pouring rain, although it wasn't the rain she was most afraid of. The clouds were gathering and soon the blue of the sky would be covered by dark grey pieces, which meant that it would come soon. Her breath quickened at the thought as she tried to run faster. But all she could see was the stone ground everywhere. There was no castle, no house, no tree nor even a little structure below which she could hide. The stone path went on and on, endless, and she couldn't even understand if she was truly moving or just running on the spot. When she heard the low and so familiar rumbling, her body froze instantly and she sank to the ground.
It was here, the thunder. The thunder she was so inexplicably and terribly scared of. Lidia put her hands on her ears to muffle the piercing sounds that would soon explode in the air, and shut her eyes close so she wouldn't see the frightful lightings which made her tremble so much. She was curled up on the cold ground, drenched from the rain and her tears alike.
"Think lovely thoughts, think lovely thoughts..." she told herself, but the fear had engulfed her, leaving no place for any happy memory in her mind. Usually she would sing while it lasted and it would help her get over it, but when she opened her mouth, she realized she had forgotten all the songs she knew.
"Please, make it stop soon. Make it stop soon. Make it stop soon. Make it stop soon. Make it st-"
"Lidia!"
Her eyes shot open at once as she jerked out of her nightmare and fell to the ground. She landed on her knees and elbows and felt the wooden ground beneath her. Her arms were still shaking from the fear and her palms sweaty. *It wasn't real. It's okay, it wasn't real* she thought as she finally sighed heavily in relief, trying to control herself.
"What happened? What did you see?"
She quickly turned backwards to see the person who owned this voice, and as soon as her panic had vanished, it came back in a heartbeat as she saw Pan towering over her like a long shadow. His voice had sounded worried but his face gave nothing of that. Indeed, except his eyebrows that were slightly frowned above his dark eyes, he looked more annoyed that anything else.
"N-nothing. Just a dream." She muttered. Besides the fact she didn't want to seem weak in front of him, she mostly didn't want him to be aware of her greatest fear, because she knew too well how he would use that against her. When she had told him she feared heights, he had put her on a tree and made her fall to punish her, so she would certainly not make the same mistake twice. She was glad she didn't tell him the whole truth at that time and chose to speak of the fear of heights, which she really had, instead of the fear of the thunder, which was way more horrifying for her. Pan knew one of her weakness already, and one was one too many in her view.
If Peter wasn't satisfied with her answer, he decided not to show it and only nodded gravely before his eyes turned to the little window of the hut. Thin rays of sunshine were beginning to slowly invade the room and the voices of the boys could be heard outside.
"Seems like you woke up right on time, the sun is rising." Peter said, as his features relaxed and a small smile crept on his lips. With the sun lightening his face like this, his eyes shone like precious stones and made him look younger and gentler. Lidia also noticed he had changed clothes; the sleeves on this uniform were cut just below the elbows and his pants were brown instead of the green he wore yesterday. She then looked at her own garb and wondered if she could find something to change into as well.
"As planned, you begin your training today. You'll find clothes in the trunk below your bed. Come outside when you're done." Peter told her as if he had understood, before going out without any more glance towards her.
