Since Robert had in-trusted you with the boiler key, you had been helping Robert check the boiler more often when he's not home or he's busy.

Robert did warn you about how it's dangerous to teach the boiler, since it's naturally very hot and can burn your hand.

Though, you sometimes do forget. And nearly burn your hand. Which you find yourself reckless for.

The children were still upstairs, while Robert was busy with work upstairs.

You finished up the chores, you grabbed some extra bandage wraps and the boiler key. Now heading on your way to the boiler room.

The old darn thing needs checking everyday, since it's very old. It can catch on fire easily, it overheats too easily.

After entering the boiler room, warm air plastered itself in your soft skin.

The boiler seemed to begin to heat up a little too much, it looks like it's about to catch on fire.

You panicked and hurried to the boile, turning the wheel to prevent the boiler from overheating.

But you were careless, you accidentally pressed your forearm against the steaming hot metal.

You yelped in pain, immediately pressing onto the burn wound with your free hand.

The boiler is okay now, but at what cost?

A tear nearly dropped from your face because of how much it burnt. You moved your now shaky hand away.

The wound was beet red. You only sighed softly. Now wrapping the bandages around your forearm.

Now hiding the wound and the bandages under your thin long sleeves.

" Mother? "

You heard a call of your name, you hurried up the stairs. Carefully so you won't trip.

Opening and closing the small trapdoor, you quickly entered the house.

The children looked like they were looking for something, or someone.

Their face softened when they saw you standing that the front door.

" Ah, mother. Father was just looking for you, I think you should go find him. "

Matthew said, while the other two nodded, you thanked them as you walked up stairs.

Knocking outside of Robert's door, shuffling could be heard, and footsteps ringing.

The door opened to a confused Robert, but his face could be seen lit up by just the sight of you.

" Ah, [Name] Darling there you are! I was just looking for you. "

Robert gently held you hand, your sleeves fell back.

Robert opened his mouth to speak but he didn't, he looked down. You followed his eyes and it revealed your bandages underneath your sleeves.
