I never knew waiting could feel so long. I never knew waiting for something to happen could alternate your life. I've always dreamt about this, but it's never happened.
Rubbing my sweaty hands on my black sweatpants, watching as Ciara walks out slowly, talking with her co-worker. I took a deep breath, this is it.
Just get out of the car and walk up to her.
Closing my eyes, I take the key out and open my door. The cold hair hitting my face as I begin to walk over to her confidently. Thankfully, she hasn't seen me yet.
She laughs. God, my heart is exploding.
I smiled softly at the sound. With that she turns my way, and I don't expect her to smile but she does.
Ciara says something and they part ways. As she walks my way, I take notice of the way her hair flipped in the wind.
It's almost as if the moon could sense my emotions, it shined down on her face. She looked beautiful, like always. And in this moment, I fell in love with her. The way her eyes shined, the way her lips smiled. It didn't matter if she got in trouble. All that mattered is that she's mine.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" She breathlessly asked.
I'm still in the same daze. I could barely breath talking to her and I'm panicking to find a way to do so.
I took a deep breath. "Hi."
Ciara's lips tugged upwards. "Hey."
I just stood there, memorizing her whole face. All that was heard is the wind blowing past us. "Uh—can I take you somewhere?"
She looks taken aback, mostly because I was so straightforward. "Um—it's really late, Darren. You're not going to kill me, right?"
I looked at the ground, smirking. I shook my head, "no, I'll make sure you're safe."
Ciara hummed, pushing my shoulder to make me look up. "Ok."
I sighed, not knowing I was holding my breath. "Ok." I said softly.
She chuckled. "Darren, why are you so nervous?" I left her question hanging in the air as we walked to the car.
"I—." I stuttered. Fuck, stop being a pushy Darren.
"I just don't want to fuck this up, ok?" I asked, while opening the door for her.
