(tw(?): Depressing thoughts)
Leah's POVAs soon as I hear the front door close, I dash out of my room and into my brother's.
Where has he hidden them?
I look around without touching anything, I don't want Josh to know I've been in here by moving something and not putting it back in the correct place.
Of course, I don't find them just by looking and I know I have to start searching through things. At first, I cautiously pick things up and then place them back down when I don't find anything. But I know that Tyler's house is only a couple of streets away and the boys could be back at any moment, so I start to carelessly rummage through my brother's clothing drawers.
I am still looking around when I hear Josh and Tyler talking outside.
Panic rises up inside me, if I want these sharpeners back tonight, I have to find them now.I rack my brain, trying to think of where my brother could've possibly hidden the box.
It won't be somewhere obvious like a drawer or a cupboard.
It won't be somewhere that I normally go or can see when I'm in his room.
Somewhere that can't be seen unless something else is moved to reveal it...
His mirror!
I rush over to the mirror on Josh's wall and pull one edge of the thin wooden frame that outlines the pane of glass, revealing a cupboard built into the wall behind it. I search the shelves, still not finding what Im looking for.
I can hear Josh and Tyler in the kitchen talking to my parents, and pray that their conversation is interesting enough for them to stay downstairs for just another minute.
"Jesus Christ Josh where the fuck did you hide my blades" I mumble to myself as I scan the items in front of me. I spot a wash bag at the back of a shelf and grab it. I hastily undo the zip and look at the contents of the bag: travel-size hair products and a mini toothbrush, then at the bottom- a small blue-coloured box.
A wide smile appears on my face and I pick out the box, quickly do up the zip on the bag and shove it back onto the shelf, before closing the mirror-door.
I turn to walk out the room but I hadn't noticed Josh and Tyler start to come upstairs- making it now impossible for them to not see me coming out of my brother's bedroom.
Josh notices me as he turns onto the landing and a look of confusion crosses his face.
"What are you doing in my room?" He asks as Tyler appears behind him. I stutter, trying to think of an excuse.
What could I have possibly been doing in his room?
"I was um.. seeing if you had any spare earphones, mine are broken."
"Really?" He raises an eyebrow, not completely convinced. I avoid bringing up the fact that he shouldn't have a go at me, seeing as he had been in my room, incase he remembers why he had been and then figures out the real reason why I was in there.
I nod and walk towards my own room when Josh grabs my arm, making me jump.
"Leah?"
"Yeah?" I ask, not looking up at him. My heart pounds in my chest and Im surprised that he can't hear it. I hold my breath, already knowing what he's going to say.
"Did you find any?"
I breath a sigh of relief and shake my head. He releases my arm
"Ok I'll look for some anyway, just to double check."
