*Pedri's pov*

Xavi asked me to take Sofia to the apartment, since I was on the way. I wasn't happy. It's good, at least Gavi was with us, of course he immediately ran to get to know her better, but what can I say, good old Gavi. Now I'll have to watch again to her opulent apartment that shows how rich she is, richer than me. Maybe she even owns an entire building.

I drove her to the apartment and was in shock. What is this? Is this the right location? It seems to be the right location, because she came out here. Just a moment. This building looks like people who barely have any money live in it. Sofia Díaz to live here? No way.

Along the way, I researched her family on the Internet. Looks like they definitely have money. I don't think it says that they were in any kind of bankruptcy. But why? Why does she live there?

Gavi pulled me out of my thoughts with a question: "Why are you investigating her family man, that's strange, just invite her out". "I should ask her out, why would I do that?", I asked confused. "Well, obviously you like her, I mean you watch her the whole training, drive her home and search her family..." "Are you good, of course I don't like it." "Well, it doesn't seem like that to me.", Gavi continued to annoy me, but I just continued to roll my eyes.

"Oh, if you only knew." I snapped Gavi out of his rant about me and Sofia. "Know what? Know what?" "Nothing you need to know." "You're not cool man, first you get me hooked on a story, then you won't tell." I just laughed, and Gavi continued to annoy me.

Should I tell him?

I mean, it's not a big secret.

"That was in the third grade of elementary school...", I began. Gavi listened to me carefully. "I came from a poor family, but at that time children from rich and poor families went to the same elementary school. We all dressed in the same uniforms, ate the same food, did everything together. The only difference was how we came to school. We came on foot, and they came with fancy cars. At that time, the most important thing in the world to me was football. Every big break we ran to the playground and played football. Then I knew what I wanted to be in the future. But besides football, there was another thing. The thing that distracted me from my goal. I got sick, and there was no cure for that disease. I fell in love in the third grade. That girl was the most beautiful person in the world to me from the outside, but she was a very shitty person from the inside. She ordered everyone around and bragged about her money. She was her daddy's daughter, a spoiled brat, what can I say? She hung out with smart kids just so they could do her homework and help her with tests. But at that time it didn't matter to me, I guess. That disease of mine hurt me until the fifth grade. At that time I had already joined the school football club and became very popular. The fifth grade was the time for a change of school and a small graduation. Many girls asked me to take them out. Poor ones, but also some rich ones. But I only had my eye on one girl. She was the most beautiful girl I have seen since then until now. But unfortunately also the richest. Sofia Fernandes Díaz." Gavi couldn't take it any longer, so he jumped out of his seat and shouted: "Oh my God, how cool, what happened then??"

"Dude be patient," I said.

"How can I be patient when you're telling the coolest story ever? Please finish." he literally begged me. I just laughed and continued the story.

"It was Wednesday, a small break between math and art. Art was our last class that day. I walked up to her and her friends. I couldn't even guess that it was the biggest mistake of my life. I stood in front of her and asked: "Sofia, I think you're the most beautiful girl in school, do you want to go to a little prom with me?"She looked at me with a cold look, a look that would freeze even the warmest soul. She looked at me and laughed nervously. I didn't know what that meant, but I quickly understood. "I'm really flattered by these compliments and I think you're a really good boy. But I think we both know you're far from my level. Don't take it to heart, I'm sure there are many girls who would love to go with you." She leaned her hand on my shoulder, she looked at me once more, I would say she even scanned me and left.I stood still for a few seconds, but it seemed like an eternity. I heard my heart break like glass , into small pieces. I took my backpack and ran home, I wasn't allowed to go in front of my mother, so I hid under the corn basket. I didn't know what I was going to do, I didn't cry, but my soul did. I was young, naive. Those last few school days were like prison. I didn't eat, drink, and worst of all, I didn't played football. I didn't even go to graduation, I stayed at home with my mother. I haven't loved anyone like that since then, and I don't know if I will. There is still a big crack in my heart," I finished looking at Gavi.

Gavi looked at me in shock. He didn't say anything, it looked like he was speechless. But that's not possible. Gavi? Speechless? No way.

"Are you sure it's her, she seemed really nice to me?" Gavi asked.

"I'm sure. I'm sure when I look into her eyes. Those black eyes, only the devil has those." I answered.

"Dude, that was a hundred years ago, maybe she's changed." "Maybe, but I don't want to risk it." The rest of the ride was quiet. Normally, this is rare when I ride with Gavi.

I started to think. Did she ever wonder how I felt at that moment? Did she just reject me like that? Has she really changed? I don't have time to think about it now, I have to focus on my career.
