Aonung looked at the spirit tree thinking once more about this before he did it he didnt think long as he swam closer and connected his queue feeling his eyes close with a bright white light, when he opened his eyes he was laying on the beach behind big rocks with Neteyam in his arms as he looked to the dark blue na'vi he felt his eyes tear until he heard his voice "Ao? Whats wrong?" The boy said placing his hand on his face, he could feel the warmth from his hand almost questioning if this was real if he was back."Nothing, Its nothing teyam" he smiled down at the shorter boy knowing this was just a memory but he felt happy to see him "Lo'ak told me he likes Tsireya" he smiled "Everyone knows that" Aonung responded sitting up as Neteyam slumped over his legs "Yeah he doesnt hide it" he smiled up at him Aonung felt lost in his golden eyes, even if this was momentary, he wished for this for a long while.
He wanted to stay here, they layed on the sand talking about just random things before Neteyam paused and looked at him completely stopping his words "What is it?" Aonung asked "What if we had a baby after we mate??" He asked, Aonung paused he felt his blood run cold Neteyam had never asked this even when he was alive "Well- we are both male that-" He stopped talking feeling weird as Neteyam just stared at him he realized that they were going to ask to be mated that year when he turned 18, "What?" He said staring down at the boy in his lap while feeling the heat of his body disappear, "Dont worry about it" Neteyam suddenly said.
Aonung felt his eyes getting heavy as Neteyam laid on his chest and his eyes closed, he opened his eyes to the purple hue of ewya, his sister next to him holding his arm with a worried look on her face she led him away from the water.
"Ao, do you feel any better?" She asked as they reached shore, he nodded "Yes actually I do, I want to tell you something-" "I know" she cut him off "I know you two were lovers" it clicked, Lo'ak.
He nodded "I see.." she grabbed his hand "Its mid day now, you left last night everyone is looking for you i tried to hold them off for a while and said you were doing something I had asked of you just say that you were looking for pearls ok?" He nodded and hugged his sister "Thank you" He said she hugged back with a smile.
They quickly went back and Aonung immediately started his dutys after a while he got called saying his father had called for him, he nodded thanking the messanger before going to his father, he stood infront of him with head head slightly down hands behind his back waiting for him to talk.
"Where were you boy?" Tonowari's voice boomed but Aonung was used to it he didnt flinch even a bit "I was finding pearls for Tsireya Sir, she had asked me to last night and I agreed to go early this morning I apologize I came back late" he lied hoping it was good enough to get past him.
Tonowari stared down at his son looking at his blank expression he said nothing and simply dismissed the boy, he knew it was a lie but he also could tell his son was unwell and knew his wife would scold him for the boy.
Aonung nodded and left saying a quick 'Sir' before leaving he had always been respectful to him but not really others Tonowari had thought it was just him growing up, maturing.
Aonung walked slowly across the shore before he heard someone calling him he turned and saw a dark blue, 'oh no' he thought as he braced himself, Jake sully, "Hey boy" he said he looked a lot better then when he last saw him, Aonung knew he was greving in his own way.
Aonung looked up at him "Yes sir?" He said instinctively Jake looked at him for a second "How are you doing? I know I havent been able to really talk to you about everything..Its like you have been avoiding it" Aonung looked away quite "Ah..I see alright well thats fine" he shook his head and then pulled the shorter boy into his chest.
Aonung was shocked by this "What?-" "I saw the way you looked at my son- Well my mate did but thats not the point.." he paused "I wanted you to know its ok, Our family accepts you we knew you loved him and we knew he loved you.. You always have a place with us ok?" Aonung nodded feeling tears in his eyes he slowly wrapped an arm around The older man "Yes.." he mumbled voice broken as he pulled away.
Jake nodded down at the boy feeling a bit awkward now while slowly leaving, Aonung had started to walk again he found himself near the burial reefs staring out at the water he moved back and bit and sat in the sand "Hey teyam.." he mumbled with a sad smile.
He talked about his days he did this everyday, "There wasnt much today I know im here at a different time" he started "I was with you for a while..at the spirit tree" he smiled "I missed seeing your smile more then I thought" he chuckled then sighed "I wish I could have had more time.." What Neteyam had said before he left the spirit tree appeared in his mind, Neteyam had never talked about a child when they were together, they were to young to even think about it.
He started to think that maybe it was a sign a child would come into his life soon he didnt know how to feel about that he didnt know if it even ment anything, He just wanted his lover back he sighed "Goodbye..Ma teyam" he said looking into the ocean he had started calling him that after Neteyam had called him 'Ma nung' once.
He got up only now realizing a few hours had passed since he got there even though it didnt feel that long he started walking back and saw Rotxo with Kiri, Lo'ak and Tsireya "Hey bro" He heard Lo'ak say as he walked and joined the group by a fire pit he just nodded to the boy Lo'ak had gotten the confidence to talk to Aonung a few weeks after the burial Aonung didnt ignore him because he was his sisters lover.
Rotxo had his arm around Kiri's waist, They had started to get a bit closer after Neteyams death, while she was cooking some fish in the fire Aonung sat next to Rotxo leaning against a tree "I feel so tireddd" Rotxo said letting go of Kiri and just dropping across Aonungs lap dramatically.
Aonung laughed slightly, pushing him off "Your heavy man get off" Rotxo sat up with a smile "Theres a laugh" he grinned elbowing him as his other arm went back around Kiri who just slightly smiled, Tsireya was leaning on Lo'ak messing with his arm.
Aonung felt comfortable here, with his friends, they stayed there laughing and talking until it got dark and they separated Rotxo taking Kiri back to the sully pod and Lo'ak walking back to his and Tsireya's pod as she stayed behind with Aonung, He told her about what Neteyam said at the spirit tree because it kept coming to his mind.
"Thats odd" she said "Maybe he wanted to care for a child with you?" She continued as she was behind him fixing his hair that he had just left since Neteyam's burial he wouldnt let anyone touch him. He just agreed not sure what to make of it.
After a while Tsireya went back to her and Lo'aks pod Aonung walked her then walked back to his pod and layed in his hammock staring at the ceiling with the random little paintings Neteyam had put there while he was still building the pod he wanted it to be their pod, he smiled feeling his eyes close, He heard a voice as his consciousness slipped and he fell asleep
'Sweet dreams Ma nung'
